Jazz Programming Cuts at WGBH

With a significant duplication of programming which is likely to increase in the future. Go figure.

When I asked about this in the past, I was told that the wider area of coverage of WGBH relative to WBUR is one of the justifications for the programming overlap.

For those of us in the local area, it just means that more and more local programming gets squeezed out.

Of course, I'll no longer need to contribute in the future to two local NPR stations with a news/talk focus, will I?

What's particularly maddening about this is that Boston already has a news/talk NPR station with WBUR.

This news is extremely difficult for me to hear. I've been listening to Eric Jackson for over 20 years, and Steve is a friend. I cannot see how I can continue to support WGBH financially in light of these changes.

i totally agree with you, sonnymax. this is the most sickening news. it would be bad enough if they split the three evenings between Eric and Steve but to eliminate Steve entirely is outrageous.
