According to the San Francisco Chronicle R&B singer Jimmy McCracklin has died. He was 91.

Jimmy McCracklin was probably best known for his record, "The Walk", and for co-writing "Tramp", but he made a lot of fine recordings. My favorites are the sides he did for Modern - reissued by Ace. He had a long and distinguished career.

I'm glad I caught up with him earlier this year. Been playing his 2 Ace CDs of the Modern recordings a lot in the last year.
