medjuck Posted January 6, 2014 Report Posted January 6, 2014 (edited) Wolfgang's Vault seems to have access to a lot of jazz concerts not just those from The Newport Jazz Festival. As with their rock concerts, a lot of them aren't very good but some are gems. There's a couple of Mingus Quintet concerts from '77 (one of which they describe as being by a quartet) that I like better than the studio sessions from the period. And there's a set each by Al Cohen and Zoot Sims using the same rhythm section (with Jimmy Rowles) one night at The Great American Music Hall. And today they're honoring Dizzy Gillespie. GA Russell Posted January 7, 2014 Report Posted January 7, 2014 Joe, must you pay them an annual fee before you can listen to anything? Quote
medjuck Posted January 7, 2014 Author Report Posted January 7, 2014 No, not to stream but they charge for downloads. (Lot's of things aren't available for download.) Quote
GA Russell Posted January 7, 2014 Report Posted January 7, 2014 Great! I'll have to give it a try. Quote
Chuck Nessa Posted January 7, 2014 Report Posted January 7, 2014 (edited) with minimal searching you can find software to download the stream. Edited January 7, 2014 by Chuck Nessa Quote

GA Russell Posted February 26, 2015 Report Posted February 26, 2015 Today I received an email from daytrotter, saying that they have a new policy. One may, without paying, stream two songs of your choice from each and every recording session they have (over 5,000). Quote
Hardbopjazz Posted February 26, 2015 Report Posted February 26, 2015 A lot of the shows sound like crap. I wonder if it Is just because it is a stream or just the poor recording? I listened to a Betty Carter should from 1986. There was so much distortion. Quote
