I was checking my Amazon "wish list" today when I suddenly noticed on the same page something called "Friends' & Family Lists" which showed the name of someone who regularly posts here. On clicking on his name I was given access to what I presume is his wish list.

How does this work? Does this mean my wish list is available to others here?

There is a link on the wish list page to "manage your list" that allows you to make it private, public, or "shared". . . .The default I believe is public.

I confused the heck out of a friend of mine when he was looking at my wish list because it's "all over the map." My tastes in books, movies and music is all over the map, and I also use the wish list for items to buy for friends and family as gifts.

Thanks, Lon, I hadn't realised that the default was "public".

I have no wish to share anything like that with the wider world.

An Amazon wish list is not the same thing as the saved for later items below your shopping cart, right?

No..a wish list is something you might buy or are interested in. I guess "saved for later" is something you will buy.

I hope not; just checked my "saved for later" lists on the various Amazon sites and they contain hundreds of items... Time for some sorting and deleting, I guess :)

Uh oh ... same here. :D

Maybe not hundreds but about 50 to 80 any time. And not all of them get bought eventually.

I know I must have over 100 titles on that wish list based on recommendations I've come across on this forum. Some I end up purchasing right away. Others that have been around for the past couple years. What I like most about the wish list function on Amazon, is that it allows me to check up on a regular basis for titles that might be out of my price range and suddenly become available at a lower threshold. I've purchased a number of releases by actively checking the website.
