awesome_welles
Sonny Stitt - "On the Sunny Side of the Street" from "Sonny Side Up" by Dizzy Gillespie Lee Morgan - Moanin' Lee Morgan and Wayne Shorter - "Wrinkles" from "Kelly Great" by Wynton Kelly Charlie Parker - "Parker's Mood" and "Cool Blues" Coleman Hawkins' immortal "Body and Soul" Frank Wess - "Flight of the Foo Birds" - The Atomic Mr. Basie A few from "Kind of Blue": John Coltrane on "Blue in Green" Wynton Kelly on "Freddie Freeloader" Cannonball on "Flamenco Sketches" all of Miles Davis' solos and then of course there's this... I guess part of it is just how well you know the record. Would love to know of any more singable Parker or Coltrane solos or anything on "rhythm changes" (I'm currently struggling to transcribe Milt Jackson's solo off "Delaunay's Dilemma"!) GA Russell
I once read that Robert Wyatt surprised Nat Hentoff by being able to sing the entirety of Donna Lee. And Dave Lambert sang Donna Lee at the 1965 Bird Memorial concert.

Some may take longer to memorize, but everything needs to be practized. I know several John Lewis solos by heart, but would never be able to memorize one of Milt Jackson's ... johnblitweiler
As Annie Ross demonstrated, Wardell Gray solos are perfect songs. Now how about Sainkho Namtchylak singing Peter Brotzmann solos?
king ubu
Griffin on the opener of "The Congregation", Eddie who? on the opener of that Funk Project album on Enja* - two perennial favourites in this house ... and indeed lots of Adderley! mikeweil
My girlfriend around 1980 and myself used to sing Annie Ross' lyrics on "Twisted" during longer road trips ....
