think I saw him once during the early 80s with some austrian free jazz pioneers, like Fritz Novotny, who did very much for the austrian avantgare scene. If I remember rite, Burton dug Monk very much and when it was about time to do an encore, he choose "Crepuscule with Nelly". Mr. Novotny later told me it was quite hard a hard time for him to play that tune, I heard a tape, it sounded good.....

My one encounter with him (late 90's) was strange and somewhat annoying. I've read since that social skills aren't his forte. I can attest to that.

Yeah, he's an odd duck for sure but I consider him a friend. He stayed with us in Brooklyn for a week. Lotta history to discuss.

I don't see Burton (or anyone) often but we have been friends for 30 years.

We live near each other. I played with him a few times but I don't play his music well.

He's driven and opinionated. That's not for everyone to be around. He's a good man.
