Bacon's Record Changer reviews of Monk's early Blue Note records were amazingly perceptive and sympathetic at a time when the music was widely misunderstood. They're reprinted in The Thelonious Monk Reader.

Of course I recognize the images and the name but hadn't put two and two together. Fascinating.
