Shawn Posted July 31, 2015 Report Posted July 31, 2015 Never watched wrestling, but he made a great surrogate for an unavailable Kurt Russell in "They Live". Quote
Joe Posted August 1, 2015 Report Posted August 1, 2015 If all the dude had ever done was THEY LIVE, he'd still be a legend.Put on the f-ing glasses. Quote
Van Basten II Posted August 1, 2015 Report Posted August 1, 2015 No wonder he made a movie career , one of the best promo guys ever, if wrestlers are as much talking than actually working in a ring nowadays you can in part blame him. RIP Quote
GA Russell Posted August 1, 2015 Report Posted August 1, 2015 (edited) I once found for the youngsters of a buddy of mine a couple of boxes of Lorna Doone-type cookies that looked like pro wrestlers. One of the cookies was Rowdy Roddy Piper. Needless to say, the kids thought that I was a great guy! Edited August 1, 2015 by GA Russell Quote
Tom 1960 Posted August 1, 2015 Report Posted August 1, 2015 (edited) I'm not sure why I remember this but many years ago there was this wrestler named Frank Williams who used to wrestle ever week. He was a poor shlub who would always lose, never putting up much of a fight. Here's an interview with him in Pipers Pit . Edited August 1, 2015 by Tom 1960 Quote
Van Basten II Posted August 1, 2015 Report Posted August 1, 2015 (edited) In wrestling parlance Frank Williams was a jobber a talent enhancement as his job was to make his opponent look good . The most memorable Piper's pit to me was when he went after Jimmy Snuka with a coconut, , the brilliance in that he made people care for Snuka without letting him talk as he was not very good at it. It allowed Piper on the other hand to showcase how naughty he could be, according to Snuka it was him who had the idea to be hit by the coconut. Warning the event is not exactly politically correct. Not as mainstream than in the WWF those who followed the business in the late 70s will have fond memories of him when he worked for many years in Portland for Don Owens Edited August 1, 2015 by Van Basten II Quote

Jim R Posted August 1, 2015 Report Posted August 1, 2015 He's been on Adam Carolla's podcast several times, including just a couple of months ago. I'm not even a wrestling fan, but it's interesting to listen to him discuss his early life (fast forward to 1:22:40)... Another one, from 2010: Quote
