Box Sets on Enlightenment Records

Anyone know anything about the box sets on this label?  The box sets of Rahsaan Roland Kirk and Quincy Jones have good reviews.  Enlightenment seems to be a European EU label, but the reviews don't mention anything being sourced from vinyl (that I saw).

Totally EuroMusiPorn PD sets. Vol 1 has been out on OJCs or other Fantasy-based realities, Vol 2 hits on MGM/Metrojazz, UA, Roulette, Colpix, Jubilee, most but by no means all is on the Mosaic Select (another one for that list), and the Destry...thing is still apparently disowned by Weston to this day, although he does list in on his web site. It's not as bad as all that, but if that's the only reason why you'd get this thing...that's your business, ok?

Seriously, I could kind of see somebody shoplifting that Vol. 2 out of either spite or the need for a quick fix, but Vol 1, no excuses other than sheer ignorance, slothfulness, or the unshakable vision of a personal future totally devoid of success, hope, or happiness. That shit's been out long enough that it can be had one way or the other, Also true of Vol. 2, but a little less so.

Thanks.  I sold Destry to Dusty Groove years ago.  I didn't like it any more than Randy.

I have much but not all of this stuff on LP, so the CD is more of a convenience factor.  

I don't like Mosaic because of their boring archival presentations of music, so I don't patronize them.  So I guess I'm left with finding these as individual CD releases, or going with EuroMusiPorn.   But still, I would love to know if these were sourced from digital, vinyl, or 8-tracks baking on the dashboards of someone's car all summer.

EDIT:  Any description with the words "Euro" and "Porn" together is a ringing endorsement.

If these are typical of the genre, they will be sourced from whatever the most then-recently available product at hand was, and perhaps even degraded in the process.

I bought one of their Ramsey Lewis sets and the sound is definitely inferior to that of the same tracks on a Chess/GRP compilation. Buy at your own risk.

They may source from CDs previously available, but in this case they didn't.

I have a couple of these boxes.   I've no particular issues with the sound.  Production is a bit shoddy with no personnels 

Two reasons encouraged me to buy

• They are an inexpensive way to fill the odd hole in my collection
• They've enabled me to dispose of a few vinyl albums that are infrequently played and have no room for but I feel I can't do without the music.
