JSngry Posted August 27, 2019 Report Posted August 27, 2019 Blast this in your car with the windows down to let people know where you stand, it's quite effective, even in the 21st century! Quote

I also have more Laderman (there's lots on CD) and further Trimble (not much more on CD) IIRC. I remember thinking that "Lester Trimble" was the perfect name for a somewhat conservative but also individual American classical composer of his vintage. Quote
JSngry Posted August 28, 2019 Report Posted August 28, 2019 It's a good record, not a great one, but oh well about that. I keep it on my iPod for revisiting every year or two, never fails to please on those terms. Quote

T.D. Posted August 30, 2019 Report Posted August 30, 2019 (edited) I've been kicking myself in the ass...On Aug. 10 there was a live performance of Feldman's For Philip Guston (the 4 hour piece) at an art gallery about an hour away. I didn't find out about it until Aug. 17. My fault, as I apparently passed by a promotional sign several times but failed to notice! This (Cage's One^5 + Feldman's Triadic Memories) is outstanding but long oop and likely difficult to find. Edited August 30, 2019 by T.D. Quote

You can contact him at the university where he teaches, U. of North Carolina IIRC. He also did a great recording of Cage's Sonatas and Interludes for Prepared Piano. Very nice man. Quote

Goldstein's also recorded (2010) Feldman's For Bunita Marcus. I already owned another recording (H. Kleeb) at time of release and was not inclined to double up, so haven't heard it. But the recording was praised by (IMO) a reliable source. Quote
T.D. Posted August 30, 2019 Report Posted August 30, 2019 (edited) This interesting 3-CD set has a lot of "early" (say, 1947-63) Feldman. Listening to disc 2: Durations 1-5Â plus Vertical Thoughts 1-5. Edited August 30, 2019 by T.D. Quote

I agree with the reviewer. Quote
