Dan Gould Posted February 26, 2004 Report Posted February 26, 2004 In great shape, no scuffs. $10.00 postage paid to the states. Checks if I know ya or paypal. Provenance: Jazzbo --> Conn500 --> Me PM if you want it. I hope the person who's getting it digs it more than the second and third owners! (I know Jazzbo digs the music, I'm sure he sold it cause he upgraded to a Japanese pressing Quote
Brad Posted February 26, 2004 Report Posted February 26, 2004 I can't believe this baby has gone through so many owners. It's a great cd. Quote
connoisseur series500 Posted February 26, 2004 Report Posted February 26, 2004 Aside from the cool cover, I just couldn't get into it. Pete obviously agrees. The funny thing is that Lou Donaldson was terrific at playing ballads. This session just fell flat. Everyone was asleep at the studio or Lou was fatigued from a night of soul jazz. Quote
Rooster_Ties Posted February 26, 2004 Report Posted February 26, 2004 I used to have this one several years ago, and I found it to be a big snooze too. ( Of course, back then, I was totally into Miles circa 1965-1975, and Ornette, and Sun Ra -- and if it didn't smack me upside the head like a two-by-four, then I wasn't having anything of it. So, of course, I traded it. ) Still, I remember it being particularly snoozy, and no where near what I was expecting - considering the line-up. Isn't Wayne on this album?? Herbie too, if I remember right. Quote
Rooster_Ties Posted February 26, 2004 Report Posted February 26, 2004 Gone. Thanks for looking. Good - glad to see it's already sold. Otherwise, I just realized that I was just doggin' a disc that somebody here was trying to sell or trade, and that sure ain't cool, to be sure. (But now that it's gone, I can say how bad it sucks - all I want to, right?? ) Quote
jazzbo Posted February 26, 2004 Report Posted February 26, 2004 Yes, you can say it sucks badly all you want to. B) I actually sold a duplicate copy I picked up. In my estimation all that sucks is the remastering! Quote
grey Posted February 26, 2004 Report Posted February 26, 2004 In my estimation all that sucks is the remastering! If you ever get the opportunity, pick up the very scarce JRVG version (BCD 0053). This remastering brings a whole new feel to the session. Very well done. Quote
jazzbo Posted February 26, 2004 Report Posted February 26, 2004 Believe me, I would. And I believe you on the effect! Quote
Peter Johnson Posted February 26, 2004 Author Report Posted February 26, 2004 Yup...although it's not my favorite Lou title, I'm actually unloading the CD because I found a vinyl copy! I'm still a wax freak at heart...as I find vinyl copies, I either sell or bring the CDs to work. Lush Life wasn't a good work CD for me (my ideal work CD is Soul Station), so away it goes! Quote
Brad Posted February 26, 2004 Report Posted February 26, 2004 Except for Lon, you guys are all wet! Quote
