mjzee Posted June 18, 2016 Report Posted June 18, 2016 Does anyone know the correct sequence of titles on side two of Cadet LPS-637? The jacket lists side 2 as follows: There She Goes; All The Things You Are; Brother Yusef; Yvonne; The Moody One (False Start); and The Moody One. On my LP, the first track definitely has a false start and the last track does not. Quote
Chuck Nessa Posted June 18, 2016 Report Posted June 18, 2016 Don't know the original sequence but you would need to check it with an Argo pressing. Quote
mjzee Posted June 21, 2016 Author Report Posted June 21, 2016 Does anyone here have the Argo pressing? Quote
kh1958 Posted June 22, 2016 Report Posted June 22, 2016 Unfortunately not--close, I have Argo 636 and 638, but 637 has somehow eluded me so far. Quote

There's a photo of the label of the Japanese LP reissue ((JO8Y-1396) of Cadet LPS-637 in the booklet of the GRP 18102 CD reissue that shows exactly the sequence you listed ... Here are the track timings, in case that helps - of course I cannot guarantee that the title attributions on the CD are correct ... There She Goes 2:22 All The Things You Are 2:05 Brother Yusef 3:07 Yvonne 3:41 The Moody One (False Start); and The Moody One - merged into one track on the CD 3:26 Edited June 22, 2016 by mikeweil Quote
mjzee Posted June 22, 2016 Author Report Posted June 22, 2016 Thanks for that help, Mike. I've analyzed side 2 using Amadeus Pro software, and have concluded that, at least for Cadet LPS-637, the actual sequence on side 2 is as follows: The Moody One (False Start) The Moody One Brother Yusef All The Things You Are Yvonne There She Goes. A false start is a false start, so that's pretty obvious. Brother Yusef has Moody playing arabic-sounding flute. ATTYA is self-evident. The last two are based on matching the timings to both the LP back cover and what Mike posted above. No idea why they got the sequence wrong. Quote
JSngry Posted June 22, 2016 Report Posted June 22, 2016 This is an actual LP, correct? Not a burn or other CD form of the LP? Because that would mean either that the labels & back covers have been wrong from the beginning or else that somewhere along the way the B-Side was restamped/repressed with a new track order! Quote

This is an actual LP. Pressing is from the GRT days. If someone here has the Argo LP, it'd be easy to tell within a minute whether side 2 leads off with a false start. But I have no idea why anyone would rearrange the order for a later pressing. Side 1 seems accurate. Quote
JSngry Posted June 22, 2016 Report Posted June 22, 2016 Seems more likely that all the labels and back notes have been wrong from the beginning. That's not unheard of (looking at you, Kind Of Blue). Quote
