Hot Ptah Posted October 7, 2016 Report Posted October 7, 2016 I saw the Rolling Stones live in 2015 and they were fantastic. Keith Richard played great all evening. This could be a genuinely good album. It can be fun to make fun of the Rolling Stones and their ages, but they are playing and singing really well now. Quote
Dan Gould Posted October 7, 2016 Report Posted October 7, 2016 Mileage will vary and all of that but unless you really believe the Stones PR why would you want to listen to covers rather than the originals? Mick did an ill-fated session with ... the Blue Devils(?) which never saw commercial release but appeared on Dime. Same concept different band. And the same vocalist who can never, ever compare to the original blues singers. But I'm sure there are plenty who don't see it that way so ... Quote
sidewinder Posted October 7, 2016 Report Posted October 7, 2016 Keith R's recent BBC4 'pirate' weekend broadcast had some good recollections of the early blues years and featured footage e.g. Muddy Waters at Newport. Not that I'm a great fan of his stuff but looks like he's on a roll of late. Quote
robertoart Posted October 7, 2016 Report Posted October 7, 2016 I'll be keen to hear this at least. Potentially comparing the Blue Devil project to the wisened old hands of Richards, Wood and Watts is jumping the gun maybe. Keefs a sloppy drunk but a good one. I'm expecting a shit hot release. Because I don't have to pick one or the other, i can and will listen to both and (hopefully) enjoy both on their own terms. Quote

As I said mileage does vary. Hope you do enjoy this new release on its own terms. Quote
