Justin V Posted June 25, 2019 Report Posted June 25, 2019 Reginald R. Robinson - Sounds in Silhouette: I picked this up a few years ago in DC for a couple bucks. I am curious to hear his recent work. He obviously received attention as a young man with his Delmark albums and as a MacArthur recipient, but he is still active and carrying the ragtime torch 20+ years later. Quote

HutchFan Posted June 25, 2019 Report Posted June 25, 2019 McCoy's version of "Wave" is so forceful that should have been re-titled "Tidal Wave"! Quote
jazzbo Posted June 25, 2019 Report Posted June 25, 2019 Listened to more new 80th Anniversary cd reissues from Blue Note (Universal Japan). Although there's no engineering credit listed I'm coming to the conclusion these are new masterings. There's a consistent sound across a number of them that makes me feel this is the same mastering equipment used across the reissues. Here are those I listened to: Big John Patton "The Way I Feel" Stanley Turrentine "That's Where It's At" Clifford Jordan "Cliff Jordan" Sheila Jordan "Portrait of Sheila" Quote

Justin V Posted June 26, 2019 Report Posted June 26, 2019 (edited) The Complete Master Jazz Piano Series, Disc 2: Definitely a set that gets lost among the shuffle. I just noticed that this disc has versions of 'I Got Rhythm' by Claude Hopkins, Cliff Jackson and Sonny White. Edited June 26, 2019 by Justin V Quote
