Rabshakeh Posted June 25, 2022 Report Posted June 25, 2022 J.J. Johnson – First Place (Columbia, 1957) Nit sure why, but Max Roach always sounds great on these 50s JJ Columbias. Quote
HutchFan Posted June 25, 2022 Report Posted June 25, 2022 Now: Earlier: Both of these albums are part of my 80s jazz survey, https://jazzinthe80s.blogspot.com/, updated today. Quote

Rabshakeh Posted June 25, 2022 Report Posted June 25, 2022 (edited) The Fritz Pauer Trio – Blues Inside Out (MPS) Listening to this now for the first time after a recommendation in the MPS thread and it's absolutely top notch. One of the best piano trio records I've heard in ages. So exciting. It's like someone dropped Tyner, Evans and Garner into a blender. Thank you to whoever recommended it. HutchFan Posted June 25, 2022 Report Posted June 25, 2022 Two vocal jazz albums that I've just recently discovered and been enjoying very much: Coincidentally, both of these are Soul Note releases. Quote

Yes, that would have been a great idea. I only have a passing familiarity with the Reservoir record. Will give it another listen. Quote
