I love Jimmy Ponder! I saw a review which called him a "guitarist of the Grant Green school." Not sure I would class him that way, he's his own man and may owe more to Wes than Grant.

One of my favorite entries in the "Legends of Acid Jazz" series.

👍👍👍

I love Ponder's playing on John Patton's That Certain Feeling... and so many others.

Those were originally issued on "Soundcraft" reel to reel tapes - I have the set.

Got those two Jass sessions in the Lonehill 2-CD reissue, paired with the other Red Allen-Hawk session from the fifties (Ride, Red, Ride In Hi-Fi, on RCA-Victor, also reissued as World On A String by Bluebird in the early 90s):

Bluebird CD reissue of Ride, Red, Ride in Hi-Fi:

Then there's the Vik reissue for this same disc:

Bought the LP box some time ago but the  recordings had an audible tape hiss son I bought the CD set which isnt much better except the music on both. IMO the Trio with Ellis ist the best version (probably a bit over the  Trio with Barney).
