jazzbo Posted 10 hours ago Report Posted 10 hours ago Tina Brooks “Minor Move” Blue Note Japan 85th Anniversary UHQCD This session needed a better digital release and this one is it. Tina Brooks deserved a longer life and career. Quote

jazzbo Posted 6 hours ago Report Posted 6 hours ago (edited) I had forgotten this was the first RCA release by Desmond, putting him in a much different setting than a quartet setting, probably a smart move but time has proven this to be less discussed than those that followed on RCA. I like this though, and yet. . . even with Jim Hall. . . I miss the blend of Desmond and Brubeck, it’s like sweet and sour, or just the right blend of spices in a curry. Rabshakeh Posted 5 hours ago Report Posted 5 hours ago Everything Is Everything – Just Flash In The Cosmic Pan Does anyone know the connection between this record and Terumasa Hino's Hino's Air? I read somewhere that they're the same band, but this one is obviously missing Hino, and I believe it came out on a different label so doesn't seem to just be alternative takes or something. Quote
jazzbo Posted 3 hours ago Report Posted 3 hours ago This has become my favorite batch of Art Tatum recordings. So much energy, joyful dissonance, superhuman flights of fingers. And Slim and Everett! “Jewels In The Treasure Box: The 1953 Chicago Blue Note Jazz Club Recordings” Resonance Records 3 cd set, disc 3 at the moment. And Resonance Records online STILL has the 3 cd set for 9.99. Quote
SMB1968 Posted 2 hours ago Report Posted 2 hours ago Decided to stream this one after reading the Downbeat article on the recording session. Quote
