Balladeer Posted January 29, 2018 Report Posted January 29, 2018 Brave man, great artist in troubled times and beyond. "I ve always liked to listen to his "Rex Casino". The above pictured book, Coco´s moving account of his astonishing life, is a stunning read and thus highly recommended to everybody interested in history, jazz, Berlin, strength of man and of course Coco himself. RIP, Coco Schumann Quote
mikeweil Posted January 29, 2018 Report Posted January 29, 2018 R.I.P. I happened to see Esther Bejarano, who also survived Auschwitz and had played in the orchestra there, in a talk show last night, and she said how few of them were still alive ... Quote

On a side note, her daugher Edna isn't totally unknown on the German scene either: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Edna_B%C3%A9jarano What she recorded with the Rattles of course wasn't the "real (Rattles) thing" any longer (but a second incarnation that went in quite a different direction) but it did make a splash at the time and brought back the name for a while.
