Brad Posted April 14, 2020 Posted April 14, 2020 (edited) In my teens I was a big Formula I fan, Jimmy Clark being my favorite. I never saw Stirling Moss race but he, along with Juan Manuel Fangio, were legendary. Some of his exploits were amazing. Although I never saw him race I did see the first Grand Prix of Barcelona in 1966 where I saw Jimmy Clark and Jack Brabham race. What a thrill. Stirling Moss passed away yesterday, a legend, as I said. RIP. Stirling Moss, One of the Greatest Drivers of All Time, Dies at 90 Edited April 14, 2020 by Brad Quote
danasgoodstuff Posted April 14, 2020 Posted April 14, 2020 I too followed the Grand Prix circus when I was young. I had no idea Sterling Moss was still alive. One of the greats to be sure. Quote
sidewinder Posted April 14, 2020 Posted April 14, 2020 (edited) He was featured on a TV in a documentary fairly recently - looked frail but still full of wisdom. A great presence here over the years. A sad grouping of famous name deaths here over the past week - some from/with CV, some not. in the latter category the superb 60s/70s soccer goalkeeper Peter Bonetti. In the former category the amiable comedian Tim Brooke-Taylor, of ‘The Goodies’ fame. I remember when Jim Clark won that Formula 1 title. Phenomenal ! Sadly, I also remember the day of his fatal crash. His background was most unlikely - farming family in Scotland, I believe. Edited April 14, 2020 by sidewinder Quote
porcy62 Posted April 14, 2020 Posted April 14, 2020 Moss, as his collegues car and bike drivers, belong to a time where racing was really a ride with the death. When I was a child they were heroes likewise the ones I had to study in school books. RIP Quote

BFrank Posted April 15, 2020 Posted April 15, 2020 Learned a lot from that Obit. I remember hearing his name a lot when I was a kid. Quote
