Gang —

What is the best sounding option for Bud’s Roost material? I have the Blue Note box from the mid ‘90s that includes the Roost stuff, but I’d like to sell it because I have all the BN material on LP or later CDs that trump the sound of the box. But that would leave me without the essential early Roost session.

So, options?

Has the Roost material had a more recent reissue on Japanese CD that was also pitch-corrected?  I can't recall right now for sure--perhaps Lon or some other board members might be able to weigh in, but I have a faint recollection of somebody mentioning such a release here.  And yeah, definitely an essential session!

EDIT:  this Discogs entry lists some relatively recent (in the grand scheme of things) CD reissues from Japan.  But I can't vouch for what they sound like or whether or not they've been pitch-corrected.

In 2012, I compared the timings of the various reissues of the Roost material:

Specifically, the correct timings are charted here (the "Roulette" column is the earlier edition with incorrect pitch): http://www.organissimo.org/forum/uploads/monthly_12_2012/post-850-0-90230300-1355239762.jpg

Thanks for the additional context.

For the sake of clarity, the topic should delete the word "Royal".

It´s strange there´s so little information about those two sessions 1947 and 1953. And for my confusion, I think Peter Pullman claimed that the 1947 session actually was recorded in 1949. And I don´t know whether the 1953 material was recorded before or after the BN Glass Enclosure.....
