Rabshakeh Posted December 22, 2020 Report Posted December 22, 2020 I'm listening to the Lew Tabackin and Warne Marsh album Tenor Gladness at the moment. The final track "Basic #1" has an excellent bit where both tenor players solo at once. Can anyone think of any other good examples of this? Quote
danasgoodstuff Posted December 23, 2020 Report Posted December 23, 2020 Konitz & Marsh own this category IMHO, starting with their work together with Tristano but especially this: Quote
danasgoodstuff Posted December 23, 2020 Report Posted December 23, 2020 Pepper and Marsh might be a half step down, but still pretty fine. Quote
Rabshakeh Posted December 23, 2020 Author Report Posted December 23, 2020 (edited) It does seem like it is Warne Marsh's thing. Edited December 23, 2020 by Rabshakeh Quote
Rabshakeh Posted March 12, 2021 Author Report Posted March 12, 2021 Mingus Presents has some pretty tasty dual solos between Ted Curson and Eric Dolphy. I'm not sure why they didn't pop into my head at the start of this thread. Quote
