Ken Dryden Posted March 24, 2021 Report Posted March 24, 2021 (edited) I just bought a bunch of SteepleChase CDs and started to play the Bob Rockwell Quartet: Shades of Blue (SCCD 31378). Instead, I heard a swinging big band, even though the CD was labeled correctly. After taking a look at the matrix/runout, I noticed that the typical SCCD catalog number was missing and something else was in its place, DCCD 9420. When I did a search of that number, here's what turned up: I pulled my copy of that very CD and that's what it was. I wonder how many similar defective pressings were shipped before they discovered it? Edited March 24, 2021 by Ken Dryden Quote
Chuck Nessa Posted March 24, 2021 Report Posted March 24, 2021 Years ago a Chief cd of one of my releases played a Bach oratorio. Quote
mjzee Posted March 24, 2021 Report Posted March 24, 2021 Sounds like it was the fault of the pressing plant, not of SteepleChase. Quote
Chuck Nessa Posted March 24, 2021 Report Posted March 24, 2021 (edited) Wrong stamper pulled. FWIW, I still have a copy of Hal Russell''s Generation that plays a Bach Passion. First choice here before Ebay. ;-) Edited March 24, 2021 by Chuck Nessa Quote
colinmce Posted March 25, 2021 Report Posted March 25, 2021 The first CD copy of Steve Lacy/Don Cherry's Evidence I bought had a different album on it. I'm assuming it was another Prestige or OJC family label title, but at the time I couldn't pick it out. Quote
