Only 74 - I realize that his politics might not have appealed to many in this crowd, but he could write, and he was funny. There's also a personal connection - my older brother, who worked as a journalist and writer, kept me aware of O'Rourke's work. He loved him, not least since they shared an alma mater, Miami of Ohio. Now both are gone and O'Rourke close to 5 years to the day.

First read him in National Lampoon ca1972, where he was definitely funny. RIP.

Very sad news - he signed my copy of ‘Holidays in Hell’ with ‘stay at home’. In person, expectedly witty and also with a kindly nature, I found. RIP.
