Thank you both!  Those albums are from roughly the same time period as the Glengarry Glen Ross soundtrack.

Bizness Man wants to know how an entity such as this got hooked up with an Orrin Keepnews label that was seemingly all about acoustic mainstream small group hard-bop etc, kinda like a next-gen Glalaxy only with some younger people as well….then again, Kronos Quartet.

I remember getting those Landmark CDs, which I haven't heard in some time.

I remember that Joe had a fatal heart attack in public transit on the way to a gig.

Ouch! At least he didn't end up like Warne Marsh, who supposedly was playing "Out Of Nowhere" when he collapsed and died on stage.

That would be inconvenient for the bystanders, but, really, that would be the best way to go, imo. Get in that zone and just keep going.

I would think that the pronoun confusion wasn't around when Joe Roccisano was active. He died in 1997.

That's what Colonel Bruce Hampton did.  At the Fox Theater in Atlanta, while performing in concert in celebration of his 70th birthday.  Massive heart attack.  Over and out !!!

I was planning to be there.  But I forgot to order tickets, and it sold out.

When I heard what happened, I was glad I'd forgotten to get the tix.

I meant "him/them" regarding Joe as a person and his orchestra as an ensemble, not in a he/him/his way.
