Teasing the Korean Posted March 8, 2022 Report Posted March 8, 2022 What do you know about him/them? They contribute two tracks to the Glengarry Glen Ross soundtrack, "Tear-Filled Skies" and "Blue Lou." Quote
mikeweil Posted March 8, 2022 Report Posted March 8, 2022 I know him from Don Ellis' Orchestra, but found this: https://www.discogs.com/artist/851562-The-Joe-Roccisano-Orchestra Quote
JSngry Posted March 8, 2022 Report Posted March 8, 2022 That's the Orin Keepnews Landmark label, alright. Quote
Teasing the Korean Posted March 8, 2022 Author Report Posted March 8, 2022 Thank you both! Those albums are from roughly the same time period as the Glengarry Glen Ross soundtrack. Quote
JSngry Posted March 8, 2022 Report Posted March 8, 2022 Bizness Man wants to know how an entity such as this got hooked up with an Orrin Keepnews label that was seemingly all about acoustic mainstream small group hard-bop etc, kinda like a next-gen Glalaxy only with some younger people as well….then again, Kronos Quartet. Ken Dryden Posted March 8, 2022 Report Posted March 8, 2022 I remember getting those Landmark CDs, which I haven't heard in some time. I remember that Joe had a fatal heart attack in public transit on the way to a gig. Quote
JSngry Posted March 8, 2022 Report Posted March 8, 2022 So they had to call an ambulance and a sub at the same time? Quote

JSngry Posted March 8, 2022 Report Posted March 8, 2022 That would be inconvenient for the bystanders, but, really, that would be the best way to go, imo. Get in that zone and just keep going. Seriously. Quote

He died in 1997. Quote

Get in that zone and just keep going. Seriously. That's what Colonel Bruce Hampton did. At the Fox Theater in Atlanta, while performing in concert in celebration of his 70th birthday. Massive heart attack. Over and out !!! I was planning to be there. But I forgot to order tickets, and it sold out. When I heard what happened, I was glad I'd forgotten to get the tix.
