Teasing the Korean Posted December 20, 2022 Report Posted December 20, 2022 Enjoy yourself, it's later than you think. https://www.cnn.com/2022/12/19/entertainment/terry-hall-the-specials-dead/index.html Quote
mjazzg Posted December 20, 2022 Report Posted December 20, 2022 No! This is very sad indeed. The voiçe of so many great songs. The Specials arrived like a breath of fresh air, seemingly from nowhere and represented so much of what was, and still is, good about this country. Dammers may have been the musical genius underpinning it all but Hall was an essential part. His vocal delivery so original. the soundtrack to its time so accurately portraying the state of a nation and the legacy of political ideology Quote
Teasing the Korean Posted December 20, 2022 Author Report Posted December 20, 2022 I love those first two albums, but have not spun them in ages. Ms. TTK routinely plays the Specials on her radio show, so I hear them there. RIP Terry. Quote

Bluesnik Posted December 20, 2022 Report Posted December 20, 2022 Ah, then that was pure intuition. I didn't research or anything. But I remembered. Quote
Late Posted December 28, 2022 Report Posted December 28, 2022 Just saw a BBC documentary (on YouTube) on The Specials and the Coventry Two Tone scene. Pretty good. I didn't know The Selecter were only together for 10 months. (Well, I barely know that band as it is.) Quote
