jlhoots Posted September 4, 2024 Report Posted September 4, 2024 I ordered a CD through Bandcamp which was never shipped. Never arrived. I've contacted the vendor & Bandcamp several times. No one replies. Is this common? Quote

It was through the TRRcollective Bandcamp store, although from a specific artist. I've requested a refund. No reply so far. Supposedly if it didn't arrive by Sept. 1 it was eligible for a refund. Was supposed to ship by Aug. 18. So far it's $20 down the toilet. Quote
mjazzg Posted September 5, 2024 Report Posted September 5, 2024 I've made hundreds of orders through Bandcamp and have had a handful that were delayed beyond the stated delivery date but never not turn up at all I don't think. One recently was 3 months overdue and I had no response from the label so I opened a dispute. This was with Whirlwind Records who I have received very poor and late response on the last three orders with them, given up on them now I always pay using PayPal so I have their dispute system as a back up. I have also found Bandcamp dispute facility helpful. But these have been on receipt of damaged goods a lot more than missing. Could it be missing in the post? Personally I'd give it another week and if it hasn't arrived or you haven't heard (maybe make another contact) then open a dispute. Quote
kh1958 Posted September 5, 2024 Report Posted September 5, 2024 (edited) The incidence of problems on Bandcamp is low in my experience. I can only think of two problems I have had. One time a label in the U.K. sent the wrong CD (after a long delay) and did not respond to my message. It was too late for a paypal dispute so I just resolved never to order from that label again and dropped it. Another time the order did not arrive for a long period so I messaged the artist. After another delay, he eventually answered and apologized, sending me the CD I ordered plus one other. Edited September 5, 2024 by kh1958 Quote
jlhoots Posted September 5, 2024 Author Report Posted September 5, 2024 What I don't get is why TRRcollective & Bandcamp don't reply to messages. Quote
rostasi Posted September 5, 2024 Report Posted September 5, 2024 (edited) I could understand why Bandcamp itself wouldn't be able to respond as quickly as one would want... and, unfortunately, artists/musicians can come across as slack for various reasons. Here's their suggestion at Bandcamp - and yes, I'd always advise tying your purchases to Paypal and/or your credit card in case the order doesn't arrive in a reasonable time. In my experience BC take at least a week to reply but they do get there eventually. I shudder to think quite how many enquiries they receive in a day, especially as their model is based on them not having control on fulfilment (as in your case). Also, when BC was recently bought out the new owners decimated the staffing levels. Have you tried contacting TRR directly with the BC order details? https://www.truthrevolutionrecords.com/contact Also you could try the public shaming tactic by posting on one of their social media platforms. I have had that work very well before. Or even seeing if you can contact the artist directly to see if they can nudge the label. Or, give up and write off the $$. I've done that before too Quote

I've done that before too I've sent 3 messages to TRR with the BC order number, dates, etc.. No reply. I've sent 3 messages to Bandcamp with all of the info. they require for a refund. No reply. I clearly won't order from TRR again. Quote

Artists can be slow; they may not actually have product in hand, or are on tour, etc.. only a few weeks late is par for the course in my book. It is too bad that they haven't responded, however. clifford_thornton Posted September 5, 2024 Report Posted September 5, 2024 yeah, I have encountered that on Bandcamp before and never trust it to be true. I don't believe I've ever gotten a physical product from a Bandcamp page within two weeks. Quote
jlhoots Posted September 7, 2024 Author Report Posted September 7, 2024 Still no reply from Bandcamp or vendor. Guess I'm screwed. Quote
clifford_thornton Posted September 7, 2024 Report Posted September 7, 2024 file a PayPal claim I guess? Quote
rostasi Posted September 7, 2024 Report Posted September 7, 2024 This. ... or if you used your credit card, you have the right to dispute it. Just follow the credit card's rules for doing so. Often, the vendor gets the message and you suddenly get the product that you ordered. Quote
