Dan Gould Posted September 10 Report Posted September 10 Addition by subtraction! Darren May placed on IL ... hopefully never seen in a Red Sox uni ever again! Whatever happens with the two rookies I'd rather have them gain experience and do what they can than watch Mr. 100 Pitches to get thru 3 1/3 innings. Quote
Dan Gould Posted September 15 Report Posted September 15 The Sox have achieved a sparkling winning percentage of 0.333 since Roman Anthony went down. Maintain that extraordinary achievement and its four more wins, or 86 total. Now you may say 6 against the A;s and Rays but then its last series against the Jays and Tigers ... 4 wins may be pushing it and it will hardly matter. 86 won't get anyone into October. No wonder Cora is saying that nothing is assured and they have to start winning games. Quote
ghost of miles Posted September 23 Report Posted September 23 (edited) Hallelujah! It's a start, anyway... MLB approves robo-ump challenge for balls and strikes beginning in 2026 … good timing for this announcement, coming on the heels of an ump blowing 25 pitch calls in a single game. Do you understand why it is that Jomboy seems to think the box on the broadcast is not the box that would be used for challenges? Is the official challenge going to be different from the result you see with the naked eye watching TV? It's very confusing to me and doesn't make much sense. (And it has to be said that any ump missing 25 calls - 2 challenges a game per team won't fix that.) Quote

I watched that game. He (the umpire) was terrible. Quote
JSngry Posted September 23 Author Report Posted September 23 Umps need to up their game. A few of them are atrocious. Quote
Patrick Posted Wednesday at 10:21 PM Report Posted Wednesday at 10:21 PM Go Guardians go! Future HOFer Jose Ramirez, Steven Kwan, and seven other “bats” in witness protection. Scrappy as hell. Will eventually succumb to teams w much larger payrolls, but fun for now. Quote
Dan Gould Posted 1 hour ago Report Posted 1 hour ago Sorry Met fans but $350 million to one player just doesn't buy what it used to .... <green smilie here> (and its all the better that Francona is the manager of the team that benefits from the Mets largesse. In all seriousness, the Sox have their work cut out for them, and so do the Cubs but its nice to be able to watch October baseball with an interest deeper than "Die Yankees, Die". And @Patrick - what they accomplished this season is quite remarkable, whatever happens. They didn't just beat September deficit - they obliterated it. I hope the magic continues. Quote
