Robert Wilson (1941-2025)

Sad to report that theater director and visual artist Robert Wilson passed this morning at 83. 

His long list of collaborators in the music world includes Philip Glass, Laurie Anderson, Don Cherry, Tom Waits, David Byrne, Lou Reed, Dickie Landry, Hal Willner, Helmut Lachenmann, Arvo Pärt, Michael Galasso, and so many others.

I was his archivist for about 11 years, and got to know him & his work quite well. He was something else! Surely some of our board members have seen his plays/operas in person.

I saw "Einstein on The Beach" in Los Angeles about 10 years ago.  An amazing work.  That was a definitely bucket-list thing for me...

yes, glad it could get one more restaging before Bob and Phil were both still living & creating work.

I'd imagine brownie was at some of Bob's performances in Paris in the early 70s.

RIP, big loss. Great director. Sadly I never saw any of his NYC productions live (wasn't yet into BAM aesthetics when I lived in Brooklyn long ago). Must have been interesting to work with him. Scanning his website, Wilson's work seems to have been better received in Europe than in the USA.
