Dan Gould Posted August 8 Report Posted August 8 A tad long, but interesting to me and maybe others. Might even stimulate a conversation. https://www.thefp.com/p/social-media-shortens-your-life-heres-how-to-get-time-back?r=px8hr&utm_campaign=post&utm_medium=web&showWelcomeOnShare=false Quote
Dub Modal Posted August 8 Report Posted August 8 Great article. Awareness of malicious design is the first step to realizing one is consuming the mental equivalent of junk food. Quote
Pim Posted August 8 Report Posted August 8 Thanks for sharing. I only have LinkedIn but don’t really use it. Sometimes YouTube of course. Thats it. Tend to stay far away from al those other platforms. Part from those awful algorithms and other dubious unethical elements I really don’t feel de need to expose my life to others. Except the jazz part but that’s where I have Organissimo for Quote
Dan Gould Posted August 8 Author Report Posted August 8 I have a new phone - haven't even added email or Facebook. But my Facebook circle is small and I never find myself scrolling thru posts the way my wife does (she has a large group of "horse friends") ... I do spend time on youtube but not obsessively and to be honest, mostly during the work day. No "subscribed" feeds but I let the algorithm keep me abreast of similar vids that I do watch (aviation, comedy clips, true crime especially the upcoming Donna Adelson trial (IYKYK). I liked and was a little horrified at the author's way of manipulating youtube to regularly see reminders of the fragility of life and the need to live it away from screens. Quote
Ken Dryden Posted August 8 Report Posted August 8 I dumped LinkedIN years ago and it is surprising how much info was spread to other sites. It was beyond useless, like a FB for business. Quote
