Importing music to the US?

Has anyone recently imported any music to the US? Did you have import fees? I know media is not supposed to have tariffs but I’m seeing where items are being tariffed anyway. Anyone made orders from overseas in the last couple of weeks?

Clean Feed (Portugal) recently released this statement:

Dear Clean Feed Records Community,

We must temporarily suspend all shipments to the United States and its territories, effective August 26th.

What’s Happening On August 15th, US authorities implemented new customs requirements that mandate customers pay duties before shipments can be transported to the US. These changes affect all international postal services shipping to the US.

Puerto Rico
US territories (Guam, American Samoa, US Virgin Islands)
 
What This Means for You If you’ve placed an order for physical releases or merchandise to be shipped to these locations, your order will be held until shipping resumes. We’ll contact affected customers with updates as they become available.

We’re monitoring the situation and will resume US shipping as soon as the postal service clarifies the new procedures and implements the necessary changes.

I got something from S Korea without issue, surprisingly, via EMS. It was one book & several CDs.

A lot of EU countries are not shipping anything to the US, which is surprising considering the tariffs are greater on non-European goods. It’s all enraging to be honest.

I checked in on a record collectors’ forum and it seems like LPs are getting returned to origin country right and left. These should, of course, be exempt. Total chaos.

Thanks. I’m actually ordering a bunch of CDs from s. Korea. Debating on which method to ship them. EMS or FedEx.

I sold a Polo Ralph Lauren shirt on Ebay.  I knew the cross border shipping would be an issue so I marked the item as a gift with a value of $10.  The U.S. buyer was still hit with a $50 custom charge.

I was looking at ebay CD listings from Rarewaves, a British seller I have frequently used.  Their listings are now carrying the message "Due to US policies, import fees for this item will need to be paid to customs or the shipping carrier on delivery."  So I will be avoiding all foreign sellers until/unless this gets resolved, which will definitely decrease my overall purchases and increase my reliance on DG, Amazon, DeepDiscount and other US sellers.  I used to put in 1 or 2 three-figures purchases from CDJapan each year, and several smaller purchases from various British sellers on Ebay, but not now.   And several of the types of Japanese and EU reissues I used to buy from overseas sources are now going to cost more than I'm willing to spend if I was to buy them from US sellers.  First world problem, I realize.
