Ken Dryden Posted Sunday at 06:08 PM Report Posted Sunday at 06:08 PM My iMac computer is repeatedly failing to accept my password. It also offers the option of a recovery key, though I don’t remember setting one up. Any tips to resolve this issue? The website is of no help. Quote
Stompin at the Savoy Posted Sunday at 06:24 PM Report Posted Sunday at 06:24 PM Do you mean you type a password and it says wrong password or wrong password/id combination? Do you have more than one user account on the machine? Quote
Ken Dryden Posted Sunday at 06:28 PM Author Report Posted Sunday at 06:28 PM (edited) I accidentally set up two user accounts when I bought it but never use the other one. Not sure I could find that password now. Edited Sunday at 06:29 PM by Ken Dryden Quote
Stompin at the Savoy Posted Sunday at 06:37 PM Report Posted Sunday at 06:37 PM Try to verify that you are logging in to the correct account for the password. Quote
Ken Dryden Posted Sunday at 06:44 PM Author Report Posted Sunday at 06:44 PM I am. I was able to change the password in January when this happened previously, but no luck today. Quote
Stompin at the Savoy Posted Sunday at 07:36 PM Report Posted Sunday at 07:36 PM Well, if you made sure caps lock is off and tried your regular password on both ids you're kind of stuck. Mac has this "Start up from macOS Recovery" process you could look up. Or you can reboot and try the reset options in the login window. That's about as far as my expertise goes - there are probably some mac folks here who can help. Quote
tranemonk Posted Sunday at 07:46 PM Report Posted Sunday at 07:46 PM Do you have everything backed up? Apple should be able to walk you through a password reset via the phone. Quote
Ken Dryden Posted yesterday at 12:02 AM Author Report Posted yesterday at 12:02 AM Finally solved, I found an Apple program that was interfering with accepting the password and I disabled it. Quote
Kevin Bresnahan Posted 18 hours ago Report Posted 18 hours ago Which program would do that? If it could possibly block your access, I'd remove it, never mind disable it. Quote
