Modern / Avant - Non Jazz scenes

On this forum we tend to talk about certain genres of avant-garde music, of the sort that you'd expect for a jazz forum: free jazz, free improv and electro-acoustic improvised music.

I'd be interested to know what contributors to the Modern / Avant threads think about other adjacent styles of music in this area. Not wanting to get too genre focused but I mean IDM, contemporary composition, ambient, post rock, field recordings, industrial, etc. It seems like in some cases the line separating those genres from the 'jazz descended' genres is pretty arbitrary. Someone like Jeff Parker is in the room but someone like Tim Hecker isn't.

Tyshawn Sorey and King Britt, who is an electronica musician and instructor at UC San Diego. Undefinable genre, as far as I can tell.

No matter the genre, there's always something I'll like.

This came out of being blown away by Alan Lamb's Night Passage, which I think is a stronger record of electro acoustic sounds than most EAI albums.
