  1. Another great article.. http://www.detnews.com/apps/pbcs.dll/artic...D=2009902260485
  2. I worked many gigs with Lyman and already miss him.. Not only a great and soulful player, but a very intelligent and witty guy. And he had a crazy sense of humor. Don't have any details yet..
  3. Super clip! Randy said he wanted to follow that number up with another old time Zappa favorite "Brown Shoes White Socks Don't Make It" but thought you might get pissed at him. Why I oughta!
  4. Just registered. Found this recording of Gene Ludwig with Anthony (Tony) Janflone. http://musicians-home.ning.com/profile/AnthonyTonyJanflone
  5. Sure would be nice to get Organissimo in that festival.. Have yet to gig west of Chicago..
  6. Bud Spangler has tried to call Bob and says he doesn't return calls.. I'm sure he'll keep trying to reach him.. Bud loves our tunes, especially the tracks we did with Ron Blake..
  7. Last time I saw Freddie he was playing in top form.. It was in the late 80's at Sonny Buxton's jazz club "Milestones" in San Francisco. He had John Beasley on piano, Wyatt "The Bull" Wreuther on bass, and Carl Allen on drums.. Best I've ever heard Carl play! Freddie had him burnin' !!! A memorable night of music for me...
  8. The two books I read were "The Axe" and "Baby Would I lie? I'm going to have to read more of his books. Just about read all of James Patterson's books.. Think Carl Hiaasen is about due for another wacky story.
  9. Read a couple of Westlake's books and really enjoyed his stories..
  10. Word,, I don't think there's anything wrong with letting him know and I think if it came from you Lazaro it might be taken more into consideration since you're a fellow jazz radio programmer..
  11. I actually like a lot of the stuff Parlocha plays.. Just don't understand why he ignores our music.. He plays organ stuff so it's not that he doesn't like organ groups.. I'm perplexed
  12. I wonder if Parlocha and Wilke actually know each other? If we could just get Jim Wilke to talk on our behalf to Bob Parlocha...
  13. Thanks bro.. My friend in SFBA jazz producer-drummer Bud Spangler knows Parlocha real well and said a couple of months back he'd see what he could do.. If we could just get Parlocha to listen to a few tracks I think he'd dig us.. I think he'd particularly dig the tracks we did with Ron Blake on the first disc as well as Tenderly, My Sweet potato Pie, Traces, and Senior Buffet..
  14. Jim Wilke loves our music but none of the radio stations in Michigan even carry his show.. But all the stations in Michigan carry Bob Parlocha's show and though he has our CDS for some reason he has never to date played any of our music.. What will it take to get him to play our tunes?
  15. There are so many great sides but Herbie's Maiden Voyage and Super Blue are my favorites..

  17. OK, OK . . . . I can take a hint. After the holidays, I'll get back to working on it.
  18. Here they are folks.. Turn up the speakers and have a great Christmas!
  19. Think I found a James Patterson 'Alex Cross' book I haven't read. 'Pop Goes The Weasel' ..
  20. Kenny Cox was one of Detroit's jazz piano legends.. Drummer Danny Spencer was a member of CJQ and gave me the album Multi-Directions which I still have.. Great music! Never got a chance to work with Kenny but heard him several times.
