  1. Just seen details from Toshiba EMI of the following due out soon Bobby Hutcherson Inner Glow with Harold Land TOCJ Bue Note 10104 due out June 31st 2004 Oscar Brashear (tp) Thurman Green (tb) Harold Land (ts) Bobby Hutcherson (vib) Dwight Dickenson (p) Kent Brinkley (B) Larry Hancock (d) Los Angeles, CA, March 24, 1975 Boodaa Searchin' the Trane Roses Poses same personnel Los Angeles, CA, March 25, 1975 Inner Glow Cowboy Bob
  2. I have to say that I had a large collection of the OJC vinyls and I thought that they were by and large excellent. A few exceptions were vastly outnumbered by the chance to own such goodies as items by them not seen on cd by Red Garland or Sonny Red or Houston Person. You have to remember that the OJC cd list was a lot smaller then and I just wanted the music then. Go get em before they disapear and then the EBAY priices start going up. There are still bags of selaed copies around so go for them....go on..... now be quick! Hurry , switch your pc of when you get back
  3. Thanks for that ...loads more if you look under the sp section http://www.gokudo.co.jp/Record/SPRec/index.htm This is just what I needed/thought of. Perhaps we should send them our rarities Andy btw I would be interested to know what this one was I will have a scout around
  4. Not necessarily better just nicer, quality. You may remember that when the conns came out they were going to be wonderful and yet they were poorly packaged with mostly flimsy covers unlike these beauties which if other Japanese pressings are anything to go my ( and I used to have a few of the masterpiece/replica series then they will be welcome Not cheap though Maybe it is just attention to detail. I remember the paper thin reissues I picked up from the 70's etc whixh I had not hesitation in trading up for Toshiba pressings and the later rare grooves were not a great deal better. Andy
  5. like this one you mean? Yeh I have seen that one but we could do with one with all rare or special issues or alternaitve covers like all the japanese ones and the weird late 60's ones etc Anyway cheers for the reminder
  6. Sorry the quote was direct from the website so you would need to email the main man : shaolin@microgroove.jp I will not be buying as they do not fit in my cd player but I would have done when I had Lps
  7. Just once again to credit the hard work of the web owner on this one. I Have hada really nice half hour reminiscing Do you think it is about time for a complete cover website?? DO people here have the necessary resources or should it tie in with the large jazz discography pages?? Anyway I would be interested in helping compile this especially some of the rarer bits and pieces that surface on EBAY which I usually click and keep for a rainy day Andy
  8. Oh dear I remember now why I used to buy Japanese LPs In all an excellent site and full credit to MATSUBAYASHI, 'Shaolin' Kohji for a great site http://microgroove.jp/bluenote-jpn/
  9. Here is the new vinyl eg and list for those not interested in the rest of the site Mar. 24, 2004 “Blue Note 65th Anniversary” Series, Limited Edition, by Toshiba EMI Our dream has come true - Toshiba EMI decided to release Blue Note reissues even in this year 2004! This series (20 titles) is to celebrate Blue Note's 65th anniversary. And this series has several specialities... This is the first Japanese LP reissues ever, from the tapes mastered by Rudy Van Gelder himself. I will listen to the copies tonight, but it may be the best sounding Toshiba reissues. And it must be noted that the cutting engineer of this series is the famous Toru Kotetsu, a superb cutting/pressing engineer in Japan. And all titles of this series come with coated cardboard jackets, as well as 180g heavy-weight thick flat vinyls. 10. Saw this on my merry search for info which people may or may not know about. Pretty good site if people have not seen it regarding Japanese Issues with fascinating info. This new lot is just out for the 65th anniversary. I do not do LPs anymore but I was drooling again http://microgroove.jp/bluenote-jpn/1989-no...JJ6501-TOJJ6520 Click through the rest of the site and you will find lots of old goodies including this page which showed the old stickers that came with the lps for the masterpiece replica series......anyone have these http://microgroove.jp/bluenote-jpn/1977-1983.shtml I will stick the stickers on the next post
  11. Haven't you ever lost your temper online, pepe? I'm a cool Scandinavian and I never loose my temper, so just shut up or I'll come and get you, you ignorant mother******* son of a *****. (that's the best swearing I can do in English, I'm much better in my native tongue, but that does'nt help much here). Re vendetta, it appeared for a moment they at least were starting one, but apparently they, as the sensible individuals they are, cooled off. If it had escalated, I think somebody should consider stepping into the argument proposing "Shhh - Peaceful".
  12. I remember this one on prestige which had him on on Prestige which was Shirley Scott's The Soul is Willing PR 7845 to be excat ( spot the sado) PR 7845 The Soul Is Willing / Shirley Scott Stanley Turrentine (ts) Shirley Scott (org) Major Holley (B) Grassella Oliphant (d) VGS, Englewood Cliffs, NJ, January 10, 1963 The Soul Is Willing Stolen Sweets Yes Indeed Secret Love Remember I Feel All Right Tada Cannot yet find anything else Andy
  13. Now you have both lost me (which I admit is not hard) I appreciate the info and input both have you have given to the board (s) but there is no need for either of you to snipe at each other through us. Both of you should chill for a bit and remember what this place is about. Just take a look at what the alternatives are. I for one feel this has to end and go back to being the better place we all know it really is or do we go back to self serving back biting ? Let this end please? The old forum got bogged like a Friday night bar brawl every now and again with really negative comments or inputs that were at best offensive but sometimes were worse and I would hate for one to see that happen again here. Can you both not accept this? Kevin, your input has helped so many people regarding matters Blue Note and beyond and Jim's has also so let that be an end
  14. this is the other title for those that do not have that either. It is a lovely Grant Green John Patton type set
  15. I have the same japanese edition and it is excellent.l I also had the other Grassella title from the same era on LP when I had those things and that was a really nice surprise. I would like to find the other title eventually if it ever comes but they were both nice The sound certainly cleaned up with the cd for the grass is greener
  16. Nice to see my post got some coverage on the Blue Note site and they still have shut me down! As for the replies I am getting worried by weird nature of some of their interest watch this now Maybe they did not get the joke over there. Anyway lets ping it back Hello from the organissimo forum! bounce!
  17. Must admit we seem to have got a decent site here compared with when it was being full of hate and anger over at BnBB The thing that I do not miss was the back biting especially that bastard EDITED and his mate edited also who really was a pain ...joking aside. I much appreciate the independance we get here which seems to have ( recent moaning aside) gone away. There was moaning about posts, ebay heads up, sniping about trades, name dropping. This board has everything I need ( is this enough now????) and it looked kind of cold and empty when I went for a browse on BBNB Yurp. I came and went from the old blue note board because of the problems it had but I have stayed here and enjoy it. This site works nuff said Andy Bleaden alias Norah Jones
  18. Well after reading all that negativaty I can now remember what it was like on the BBNB ( where I andybleaden cunningly appeared as....wait for it A Bleaden.....see you never would have guessed it! This was appalling and needed colnic irrigation for those invovled with the nasty N Jones episodes........dreadful I will go at once and check the site out and just to post the rest of this message here. By the way considering the last link I changed my name to Norah Jones Ta da Who will take a bet on how long I last without huge legal expenditure PS The name is for sale for $0.10 with free postage and packing
  19. I got a Lee Morgan set from Ebay .UK only about 4 months ago for about £60 (about $100) ! If the mosaic prices are going up like this in general it looks as if i'll never get the Larry Young or Andrew Hill . Do not give up hope of finding them. You can still get them. I was lucky with these as I got them the nano second that they were released but I have picked up a few since that were OOP Let me know if you are really struggling to get them. You never know they might pop up in a second hand charity shop in Bedminster! ( I am Bristolian moved up north) Andy Bleaden
  20. Anyone able to help find a reasonable copy of this please. Or the cds that are within it. I would prefer the box set through if possible Offers or help please either via forum,pm or email Cheers Andy
  21. Well I used to have the videos. One off the tv and one prerecorded. I thought the dvd was brilliant and very good quality especially the sound and picutre quality. I also thought the added extras were good too and really enjoyed them. Andy
  22. Just been browsin looking for something else but found this which I have not seen before. Usual nonsense ie it is not mine blah blah just posted for interest Must admit it looks kind of strange B) http://cgi.ebay.fr/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewIt...&category=52630
  23. I liked the out of the blue set but for me the worst disappointment was the Kenny Clarke and Francis Boland set which I barely listened to. I rememeber it took me ages to find and then when it arrived it was so annoying. Never sold it but was sorely tempted as it was an expensive TOCJ at the time. Another non score for me was a surprise and was Jimmy Smith Crazy Baby which I thought would be a cooker but I rarely listen to it now. Andy
  24. Already got mine sorted through Hiroshi so I just have to wait for a few more to come out to complete an order and then it will be on its way. As for the Flip it does not sound like the other Blue Notes of the period becasue of where it was recorded but it still is very fresh and slightly better than what I had originally not to dis the generous person who lined me up with a burn as I was very grateful. By the way if anyone in the UK is debating about buying it I will lend them the cdr that I have and then they can make up their mind but I would go ahead and get it as it was unavailable for soooooooooooooooooooooo long
  25. Good news all mine came through at the really cheap price and I really like the Andrew HIll Passing Ships. Just makes me wish there was more of this great mans music around. It was nice to have a nice clean copy of Hanks The flip as well too. This was for someone with lots of Blue note cds a nice surprise indeed. Now all I am waiting for are Going West which seems along time waiting for and Ghetto Music Andy
