  1. Good job too! Was surprised to see it actually as I have not seen it at all on mp3 but I guess it was a matter of time. I guess deleting the name would be appropriate then after all. Might even get Buddy Boldens stuff on mp3 next!!!
  2. and I speak as one who has all three of the above ! Ie cdrom, cd burns and mp3 but a hell of a large retail cd collection so post away!
  3. Are we missing a thread or post here.....who rasied this in the first place. I have seen the Nat King Coles being made available on mp3 and they are in mono obvioulsy and ripped at about 90kps As for the ethics. If the law of law land where it is says it aint then it aint. There will always be issues with this across here in the EU as our copyright laws are different but they are our rules. As for these, they are still illegally being made available in certain quarters and therefore like make a cd burn are just the same. Whether you do that is the question. Downloadable mp3 or cd roms or cd burns are theft but this will not be the first example or the last ( I hope ) Andy (anyway has this thread been edited then?)
  4. and the back I have to say what a fantastic little site in all ....I am off to have a browse around Anyway I have the following on two BGP cds from the LP (not all grant green though) A-1 You Are The Sunshine Of My Life A-3 Until It's Time For You To Go B-1 Pain C-1 Easy Walker C-2 Kittitian Carnival D-2 Medley: Tain't Nobody's Business If I Do - Don't Go Strangers D-3 Crazy Legs and Lester leaps in which strangely enough does nto appear on the listings as it was an unissued and yet brilliant track from the session which features Grant Green Enjoy
  5. Bit more info re this session from a great little japanese website http://microgroove.jp/archives/2005/03/the_real_thing_1.html I have lifted the stuff below : alking about the musical contents - all tracks are what the Soul Jazz or Funk Jazz should be. The leader Houston Person plays very dirty, mellow and soulful tenor sax, while the amazing drummer Idris Muhammad doing the funky funky stuffs. Luckily, Idris Muhammad's awesome drumming is featured on five out of six tracks which features Grant Green on guitar (on the rest track “Since I Fell For You”, Hank Brown replaces Muhammad - I feel Hank's drumming sounds rather steady, though). Comparing individual characteristics among three different organists (Jimmy Watson, Sonny Phillips and Jack McDuff) is also interesting. Anyway, this double LP is highly recommended for anyone who like Souly and Funky Jazz music of the late 1960s - early 1970s. A-1 You Are The Sunshine Of My Life A-2 Since I Fell For You A-3 Until It's Time For You To Go B-1 Pain B-2 Angel Eyes C-1 Easy Walker C-2 Kittitian Carnival C-3 Could It Be I'm Falling In Love D-1 Where Is The Love? D-2 Medley: Tain't Nobody's Business If I Do - Don't Go Strangers D-3 Crazy Legs Marcus Belgrave (tp on B-1, C-2, C-3, D-3), Donald Townes (tp on C-2), Eli Fountain (as on C-2), Houston Person (ts on all tracks), Wild Bill Moore (ts on C-2), Jimmy Watson (org on A-1, A-2, D-1, D-2), Sonny Phillips (org on A-3, B-1, C-1, C-2, C-3, D-3), Brother Jack McDuff (org on B-2), Grant Green (g on A-2, B-1, B-2, C-1, C-3, D-3), Robert Lowe (g on A-1, A-3, B-1, C-2, C-3, D-2, D-3), James Jamieson (b on B-1, C-3, D-3), Hank Brown (ds on A-1, A-2, A-3, C-2, D-1, D-2), Idris Muhammad (ds on B-1, B-2, C-1, C-3, D-3), Buddy Caldwell (conga/tambourine on A-1, B-1, C-2, C-3, D-1, D-2), Etta Jones (vo on D-2), Spanky Wilson (vo on A-3). Recorded at the Watts Club Mozambique, Detroit, MI on March 14-15, 1973. Produced by Bob Porter for Eastbound Records, Inc. Engineers: Chuck Buchanan, assisted by Marty Jakubowski. Remix Engineer: Rudy Van Gelder. Mastering: Howard Craft. This is the lp art for it

  7. Is this the set that came part out on a BGP sampler a while ago with jack mcduff too?...I have some of these tracks..give me a shout via pm to check details It was a live set that I have at Watts Club ( a little too like the unissued Blue note set) and had a least two if not three of the tracks on...kick some ass too if I remember right I had two sampler ..one of East bound artist and one specific Houston one Andy
  8. I have to second that. I had the orginal LP mosaic set but sold it with regret when swapping over. However the Blue Note box is very good. I remember doing a talk about Herbie Nichols at the Manchester Jazz Society and photocopying the book...should have kept it I guess. Never mind. These sets ( like the Tina Brooks and I would say the Larry Young and Andrew Hill ) were real shining stars for Mosaic. A little like the recent Andrew Hill mosaic select. A triumph of music and art over the bean counters
  9. Is this really necessary ? Have we not been through this? What is the point? Why do you write this? Why the bad language? All questions I fail to understand , I really do. Give us a break please and spare us from another frankly quite boring episode of insult tennis I am away from this for a week or so and look forward to some fresh stuff when I return because quite franky this is getting boring and tedious
  10. I must admit I feel rather uncomfortable reading this and it reminds me of what children get up to in school when they start ignoring people, sending them to 'coventry',forming special groups, picking on the fat kid and all that other bull There have been several posters I disagree with, some (very few!) who annoy the hell out of me and maybe one or two I always just scroll past ...so what is the big problem. Gee after all that nonsense last week or so with Aric and then the threats and the 'i'm taking my ball home' stuff I do have to wonder about the attitude I read about. Get a life, llisten to more jazz and chill Really
  11. I don't get the hassle.....just ignore the ones that are a pain in the rear end. I do. Certain names I just skate past knowing that they have an axe to grind so I move on ...easy as that
  12. i thought all organs spoil decent jazz and sound rinky dinky
  13. Especially the one that goes do do doooh sooh dah doo doo doo Waaaaah! Waaah!
  14. The prestige titles did come out as a two fer in England but only two of em! hence the title but there were three prestige titles in all Andy
  15. and the view from the other side of life
  16. Yeh i have this from Japan This took me years to find and was very different again ....as his prestige stuff was from his blue note material .....let me know if you need to hunt down a copy Here is the piccy from the back ....do not know if will show up ...will try the front next!
  17. Anymore to come...this has been a true treat to read and enjoy. Thanks for your hard work.... Andy
  18. Get it done! Ring her for god sake She took the time to contact you. You can call the shots about linking up with the other sad dudes who were rude by being clear about what you will/will not be interested in. What ya waiting for. Make the call..... go on!
  19. Listen I had this set I HATE Xmas music I like this set I got it and lizstened to the Merry ole Sole session ( albeint over xmas and it was areal bonnus...saved having all that over nonsense on Go for it....its worth it for the other lps on the set and this was a bonus for me
  20. I thnk that is the one I have....not too cool with the sound quality I must admit I alway rated both thinking at home and thrid season and a slice of the top as some of my favourite mobleys as they were more interesting although naturally I love the other stuff Andy
  21. Bev Just pm'ed you if you are still not any closer to getting them....a little help on offer from glossop
  22. HI Matey ...can help you with this Sent you a pm Andy
  23. Thats why I chucked em all in and went to cd and ok yes I miss LPs but have virtually 98% of what I had and wanted on LP ( with a few burns ) but I have a much larger more diverse collection and do not have the hassle anymore....and then with mp3's well need I say more I can sit here at work with 300 lps in my pocket ( and they sound great) ...mostly rips of my own cds and its here ...ready to play and rockin to. Spent too long searching for decent copies or japanese vinyl and got some awful scratched vinyl to go back I am afraid...always missing the covers of them though The other thing I did was sell what ever did not work for me or copies and that funds the new releases or reissues. I am also at that point now with the Blue Note collection where the missing items are single figures and or never been on cd...even managed to find a few of them too
  24. Absolutely the last thing I needed to see as I do not need distractions today but ...who cares? Brilliant link ...work will wait til later now.;.... Millie Jackson....she needs a special site all by herself
  25. Don't encourage the poor chap please. He will be teaching 'real science' in US schools next and none of that evolution 'nonsense' As it stands my favourite BFW track is Mo Rock .....got that groove already!!!
