  1. Don't encourage the poor chap please. He will be teaching 'real science' in US schools next and none of that evolution 'nonsense' As it stands my favourite BFW track is Mo Rock .....got that groove already!!!
  2. I got mine yesterday and got a nice session last nice listening to all quickly ( skipped through) and then hammered disc 2 consistently as it was awesome. I have always liked Illusion and to hear another cut was really interesting. Usully with takes 2 3 etc I can take or leave em but this was really nice. His sax playing was erm ..ok but as a set it was lovely to see all this out in one go. I had one for one for a while and loved it but this was much better sound and everything. I am sooooo grateful for this set coming out and need to stick it on my mp3 player for greater concentration when I am out and about. BTW I like the soulful tracks also on the end of disc 1 too More comments later. BTW it will also be tempting me back to the other mosaic set too
  3. Hey check with one out...gotta be worth picking up , I mean ....John Patton and Grant Green.....what ya waiting for and £8.99.....craaaazy http://www.vinyl.com/product_id/LPATLA1494 #Seems a good site, miss this pbeaties on vinyl and regret selling them too sometimes but at least I hooked up with the Japanese cds now
  4. They are coming across the pond now too! We are in receipt of your Mosaic Records/True Blue Music order for which we thank you very much. The following items will ship within the next 24 hours: Item Qty Qty Qty Expected Number Description Ord. Shp. Bck. By ---------- ------------------------------ -------- -------- -------- ------- - MS-016 MOSAIC SELECT- ANDREW HILL 1.00 1.00 0.00 I must admit I cannot wait and will be checking out for the mail . It usually takes less than a week for my mosaics to hit here even surface. Does this mean I can ditch a cd burn of the double lp one for one??? I guess so Seems a shame
  5. Seems cool , I wqill get on and preorder my selct through mosaic then....maybe need to order 2 to justify the postage .Its what my wife would want me to do B-)
  6. damn ...thought I had scored a cheap way to get the new andrew hill Never mind...will have a look thanks for the advice Andy
  7. Excuse me butting in on this .....where are they distributed over here in Yurp then? I have always bought them direct and I never knew there was an EU distributor. Any help or ideas
  8. I can remember trading a whole bunch of Blue Note Lps ( nice ones too) for a Larry Young set in a shop over here ( Decoy Records) and this turned me on to Mosaic which I had heard of but at that point never seen.....it was the best thing I had ever bought....found out I could have bought it for half the price direct but what the heck it was free for me with the trade in as the lps never cost me much. I also remember ringing them and ordering the Tina Brooks lp set which was a revalation....really wished they had stuck the CD set of that out although I sold the set when the Japanese cds came out. The boxset was the very reason for me behind Mosaic. From there I dabbled with Herbie Nichols and bough tevery Blue Note set from then on and even caught up with the ones before before scoring the hardest to find for me....the Albert Ammons and Meade Lux Lewis. I used to really look forward to them being released and when they did produce a Blue Note set I would sulk until they would go mad and do say three in a row. My favourite still is probably the Larry Young but the Thad Jones were a nice deiscovery as I only had tapes of the lps before and the Lee Morgan BN set was good as was the Blakey and the Grant Green..........oh and the Elvin Jones and the andrew hill ............well the list grows as you can imagine. Least fav probably the Jimmy Smith. The interest for me was that for years I just read abou thtem coming out from Day 1 and never bothered with a credit card so could not get them at all for a while. I used to have to post moeny to my dad who would get them for me. I found I go t lucky a few times and scroed a few older ones there but even when I bid high on rare ones I never won them and got lucky for lots less. Now then , where is that Larry Young set.............
  9. I must admit , even though they are the first Blue Note recordings they still hold a very special place in my heart and finding the rest of them was a real bonus I must admit. Now and again, especially with Meade Lux Lewis, I get a reall buzz listening to the Blues on piano
  10. I have a faulty burn of the right Grachan Moncur set...does that count???
  11. Well of course I was IN the studio before they recorded them the first time around. I said to Alfred, this Hill guy will go far..............
  12. Oh goody Hutcherson 70's stuff is fab and all I have are lp burns which are nice but need cleaning! I cannot wait for that must admit.....that and the Andrew Hill set. I quite liked Waiting when I picked it up and MOntara which I got from Japan on cd...although that has been reissued over here now I see Anyway it is also good to see that 'later' stuff is getting out through the select series Andy
  13. Strange year this year. Been kind of lucky picking up secondhand mosaics and so this year i the first year since the Art Blakey set came out that I have not bought/been bought a mosaic set for Christmas. However I have picked up a ton in between Strange though all the same. Mind you I am waiting for the Andrew Hill set which will make it seem like Christmas all over again Shame it ain't in a decent Mosaic box but then at least it is coming out and not stuck away in the vaults Did pick up the Tal Farlow set this year earlier on which was a nice surprise and the Chico Hamilton which was also different. Will look to get hold of the Art Farmer too when my millions have been counted. Ok when I have saved enough! Andy
  14. I am with you guys on this and have been over the last 10 years knocking off large numbers of the OJC rpestige and riverside catalogue with any spare cash. However this year I managed to get into the whole emusic downlaod thing and have shifted up a gear or two ..........got some real scorchers too...........not the same as having the cd but it is legal ( well it makes a change B-) ) and you get the large catalogue However my all time favs and never to be missed are the Roy Haynes, Booker Ervins, Walt Dickerson, Benny Golsons Charles Macpherson Email me for more details or for trading possibilities as I have some spares Andy
  15. and they are due out on my birthday too! What more excuse could I need
  16. Now how about that? These two are some real nice finds for an old lp collector as I used to have em but sold them too when the LP clearout happened so they will be more than welcome visitors back in my house I can tell you. Maybe not the best of Blue Note but they were nice all the same.......any idea where we can get them over here in 'yurp' ? Andy
  17. Cannot wait if the Hill is coming out early. Really looking forward to this I must say again and again. However the 3 sounds will be interesting....got all their early stuff but missing Vibrations and the really obscure string stuff. Andy
  18. I used to have the Bruyn...thingie and then settled with the Ruppli work but wass looking forward to this. I downloaded the demo and quite frankly I was not that impressed iwth it....really not what I expected ...sorry if that is not helpful. I just guessed that the work would be more user friendly but it was not for me anyway. Andy
  19. Its those WMD's Its those WMD's tell somebody quickly!
  20. well...erm ....don't get that last post. anyway I was nearly shocked to find that there was unreleased stuff about ....would have loved the Grant Green at Watts Club mozambique! but would settle out of principle for a listen to the Art Blakey...I did have everything ...until now. Now I am sulking I realise now what a sad collector I am .....no matter what the state of the recordings they would be worth a listen I guess becasue of who when and where especially for any banter about during intermissions. As for who has them or not...well they are lucky ...I mananged to get lucky with the help of friends here with some lp burns and that was great enough but this...hmmmm now this is devious and tricky. That I like!
  21. I always feel as if I need to think of myself in these circumstances but I will foregoe this response for the benefit of others yet again. All those naughty people who have cdrs or tapes of illicit sessions may wish to send them to me for complete distruction using my powerful cleansing programme. I will of course remove any material which maybe considered illegal and make the whole process anonymous so that you never again have to fear the doorbell ringign and the arrival of the Blue Note police. Please send with small fee to cover any new costs associated ( cd storage, more shelves etc) to Andy Bleaden 61 Pla...... etc etc
  22. do you think he would have been on celeb stars in their eyes? or even I am a celeb get me out of here?
  23. Send him to Liverpool for some instant justice!
  24. Actually in all seriousness. This happened to me as a seller years ago when clearing out some cds...sent wrong cds to two people who were kind enough to swap! I of course rewarded them with a high reward I am impressed at your response and waht an example to us all
  25. I'm not sure the buyers would appreciate your playing their vinyl before sending it on... He would of course be copying not playing Perhaps if he offered to 'test' the lps for the rightful buyer!
