I think the rather sick comments above have had their day now please . I have my kids around and it is not needed any more . he has now left the building we BTW ...cool photo above BTW 2 Always puzzled me doing the work I used to how one fight ( even when calmed would start another one ( simmering away from before yet unconnected) If that is what the forum needs then let it be so ..... Perhaps some of the things around the world are not so different after all. Still it is worth remembering this is the board that I enjoy reading execpt the odd occassion. It is the board that can come up iwth a wish list for a record label and sit and count til it comes out. This is the board that can source rare and tasty pieces of jazz but this is the board that still gets into a friday night bar brawl every now and again .... Do get puzzled how long grudges here last ...seems a bit silly but there thats life Lets learn move on, crow a little may but still move on I say that of course with the toungiest cheek in the mouth iest mouth

Ah Much to learn about the dark side you have. Already sided with the Sith our lawyer friend is This is right to happen period. It is the decision of the moderator, for what I think are really understandable reasons. This is the end of a line of really unfathomable threeadsbut whether it has anything to do with free speech I really cannot understand. The right to free speech has little to do with the right to threaten, abuse etc. Taken lightly or not, these things/threats I have again had to read from this armpit serve little purpose but to violate those who have to read it. If you found his commnets funny well .....ok It is obvious from many here that some felt uneasy with his tirade and the sexual stuff i can happily do without reading. I am not being a prude...like bad humour myself but this ...? really ???? Humour? I do not think so for one but that is all I am ...just one. I remember trolls like this on alt music site and they were an effing pain in the arse...shooting their mouths (usually foul) all over the board. I remember what went on on the old Blue Note site ...where I was a member for a long time and it was similar and sad and I was glad when he got banned. I use this site to talk about everything from Andrew Hill to Blue Note LPs to George Bush to Micheal Moore to Freddie Roach to CDRs to whatever but not to read this putrid spot commenting in a foul and stagnent way Begone! (rant over...going for a cup o tea!)

Cannot argue with that but I must say I fully support Jim and his action. Boards like this rarely need policing but with losers and flammers and the like I think this action is overdue. Now get back to the music will ya?

I am afraid I feel this has come about not soon enough. Threats like that should never be acceptable. Remember there is a mixed age range of people who read this board regularly Needed sorting Well Done Can we lose the repeats of the threats now?

The ugly, growin greed of being a jazz/music lover
andybleaden replied to cool_blue's topic in Offering and Looking For...
Thats why I chucked em all in and went to cd and ok yes I miss LPs but have virtually 98% of what I had and wanted on LP ( with a few burns ) but I have a much larger more diverse collection and do not have the hassle anymore....and then with mp3's well need I say more I can sit here at work with 300 lps in my pocket ( and they sound great) ...mostly rips of my own cds and its here ...ready to play and rockin to. Spent too long searching for decent copies or japanese vinyl and got some awful scratched vinyl to go back I am afraid...always missing the covers of them though The other thing I did was sell what ever did not work for me or copies and that funds the new releases or reissues. I am also at that point now with the Blue Note collection where the missing items are single figures and or never been on cd...even managed to find a few of them too -
Absolutely the last thing I needed to see as I do not need distractions today but ...who cares? Brilliant link ...work will wait til later now.;.... Millie Jackson....she needs a special site all by herself

Don't encourage the poor chap please. He will be teaching 'real science' in US schools next and none of that evolution 'nonsense' As it stands my favourite BFW track is Mo Rock .....got that groove already!!!

Andrew Hill Select "talk about THE MUSIC" thread
andybleaden replied to Rooster_Ties's topic in Mosaic and other box sets...
I got mine yesterday and got a nice session last nice listening to all quickly ( skipped through) and then hammered disc 2 consistently as it was awesome. I have always liked Illusion and to hear another cut was really interesting. Usully with takes 2 3 etc I can take or leave em but this was really nice. His sax playing was erm ..ok but as a set it was lovely to see all this out in one go. I had one for one for a while and loved it but this was much better sound and everything. I am sooooo grateful for this set coming out and need to stick it on my mp3 player for greater concentration when I am out and about. BTW I like the soulful tracks also on the end of disc 1 too More comments later. BTW it will also be tempting me back to the other mosaic set too -

When did you first discover Mosaic?
andybleaden replied to bebopbob's topic in Mosaic and other box sets...
I can remember trading a whole bunch of Blue Note Lps ( nice ones too) for a Larry Young set in a shop over here ( Decoy Records) and this turned me on to Mosaic which I had heard of but at that point never seen.....it was the best thing I had ever bought....found out I could have bought it for half the price direct but what the heck it was free for me with the trade in as the lps never cost me much. I also remember ringing them and ordering the Tina Brooks lp set which was a revalation....really wished they had stuck the CD set of that out although I sold the set when the Japanese cds came out. The boxset was the very reason for me behind Mosaic. From there I dabbled with Herbie Nichols and bough tevery Blue Note set from then on and even caught up with the ones before before scoring the hardest to find for me....the Albert Ammons and Meade Lux Lewis. I used to really look forward to them being released and when they did produce a Blue Note set I would sulk until they would go mad and do say three in a row. My favourite still is probably the Larry Young but the Thad Jones were a nice deiscovery as I only had tapes of the lps before and the Lee Morgan BN set was good as was the Blakey and the Grant Green..........oh and the Elvin Jones and the andrew hill ............well the list grows as you can imagine. Least fav probably the Jimmy Smith. The interest for me was that for years I just read abou thtem coming out from Day 1 and never bothered with a credit card so could not get them at all for a while. I used to have to post moeny to my dad who would get them for me. I found I go t lucky a few times and scroed a few older ones there but even when I bid high on rare ones I never won them and got lucky for lots less. Now then , where is that Larry Young set............. -
I must admit , even though they are the first Blue Note recordings they still hold a very special place in my heart and finding the rest of them was a real bonus I must admit. Now and again, especially with Meade Lux Lewis, I get a reall buzz listening to the Blues on piano

I have a faulty burn of the right Grachan Moncur set...does that count???
-
Well of course I was IN the studio before they recorded them the first time around. I said to Alfred, this Hill guy will go far..............
-
Oh goody Hutcherson 70's stuff is fab and all I have are lp burns which are nice but need cleaning! I cannot wait for that must admit.....that and the Andrew Hill set. I quite liked Waiting when I picked it up and MOntara which I got from Japan on cd...although that has been reissued over here now I see Anyway it is also good to see that 'later' stuff is getting out through the select series Andy

Strange year this year. Been kind of lucky picking up secondhand mosaics and so this year i the first year since the Art Blakey set came out that I have not bought/been bought a mosaic set for Christmas. However I have picked up a ton in between Strange though all the same. Mind you I am waiting for the Andrew Hill set which will make it seem like Christmas all over again Shame it ain't in a decent Mosaic box but then at least it is coming out and not stuck away in the vaults Did pick up the Tal Farlow set this year earlier on which was a nice surprise and the Chico Hamilton which was also different. Will look to get hold of the Art Farmer too when my millions have been counted. Ok when I have saved enough! Andy
