  3. Could someone enlighten me as to the importance of these albums, their reissue and why they are essential, please? I'm totally unfamiliar with the material, but know a few of the players. Thanks.

  5. Hi folks - I'm looking for a CD of either Hubbard/Shaw's Eternal Triangle OR The Complete Sessions 2cd set. I have the Double Take SHM, so my first choice would be the Eternal Triangle so as not to double up, but I'd still be into the 2cd set if that's what it takes to get the sessions. PM me if you're interested in selling or trading. I've got a NM Jimmy Smith Trio + LD TOCJ I might trade, or we could work out some other arrangement. Thanks!
  6. Didn't bring a glove, and narrowly dodged getting my ribs cracked by a line-drive foul on the 1st base side. Moved a bit to my left and the ball hit the back of my chair, bounced in to my back and fell on my seat. I picked it up and put it in my sweatshirt pocket. Nice souvenir ...and it was hit by a pitcher, no less. Imagine if it was a slugger-type who had crushed that ball.....

  8. Streaming the Phillies/Blue Jays on my desktop right now. Not a fan of either, really, but gimme some BASEBALL! Good to see Jamie Moyer as one of the Phillies broadcast crew. Big fan of his since his time with the Mariners.
  9. Chick Corea (Elektric, Elektric II, New Trio, Akoustic) Maynard Ferguson Chicago Heart Queensryche Pat Metheny Bela Fleck & the Flecktones Elvis (once, when I was 6) Many, many others (John Scofield, Fleetwood Mac, Billy Joel, various Jazz and Blues festivals...) None of them recent, though I'm afraid. Shows are so expensive now, I'd rather spend the money on a few albums. Plus I used to see so many shows when I worked in music retail the allure to travel and spend the time and cash just isn't there. I know. I'm lame.
  10. Sorry for the ask, but what is the importance of the SICP reissues? Curious....
  11. Just heard about this today - really looking forward to it. https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/the-rite-of-spring/id818724961
  12. It seems a lot of this next batch showed up on iTunes recently.
  13. Thanks for the info. I originally was going to place my order w/ CD Japan, but the items weren't in stock. They were at HMV so I went with them. I was very surprised at how quickly they got here. I ordered on the 13th and they were delivered today.
  14. Hey all, wondering if any of you have picked these up from HMV? I just ordered some Blue Note NOW series CDs from them that got here (Chicagoland) in 6 days, and at what I think is a decent price too. Just curious, as I haven't seen much discussion about HMV. Thanks. This is my approach as well. Looking to get Contrasts and the Blue Mitchell title. Picked up the Patton, Rivers and Wilson already. Great stuff!
  15. Winter Olympics. All about it in this house. My 2 oldest sons are nationally ranked Short Track Speed Skaters, and my eldest is in Long Track, also. Hopefully going to the Olympic trials in 4 years.... My sons' friend Emery is there now - competed in the 5000m today. I also loves me some Curling! Seriously.
  16. This album was originally released on Sep 11, 2001. It was pulled from the shelves and rereleased with new art. more info - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Live_Scenes_from_New_York
  17. I've been practicing this for months, and here comes this guy, and makes it look soooooooo easy. Thanks, thanks a lot.
  18. Just pre-ordered from amazon.uk for under $30 shipped. Man, coming back to this forum is co$ting me....
  19. Just got the BNLT999 edition. Sound is far superior. Great, now how many of these do I need to purchase to replace my US versions.....?
  20. I have 2 iPods, a 60gb and an 80gb, a 2nd Gen iPod touch, an original iPad, an iPad 2 and an iPhone 4s. Most of my music listening is done on one of those devices, if not straight off my Mac. My music purchases are split maybe 60/40 digital files to CD. If it is a release I really put great value in (or is not available to d/l), I'll seek out and splurge on the CD. And now that I live essentially in Chicago, Jazz Record Mart is not far away; a dangerous prospect. I still need to venture to the brick-and-mortar Dusty Groove shop. Anyway, that being said, even when I do buy the CD, I still rip it and put it on a device. Also, with the advent of the Apple TV and other wireless streaming devices such as ChromeCast, its becoming easier and easier to enjoy the music we love anywhere. Gone are the days of deciding what CDs to bring on a road trip. Bring them all. In your pocket.
  21. Thanks Leeway. Might have to pick up the BNLT999 series.
