2010 MLB Season

Recommended Posts

Yes, King Felix has had another excellent season. But that isn't surprising in the least. What is surprising is that Buchholz doesn't get called up last season til the beginning of August, and this year he leads the A.L. in ERA and would be closing in on 20 wins if not for a silly leg injury incurred in an interleague game.

He surely deserves some Cy Young votes - and since the voters aren't terribly smart, he'll get more of them than Hernandez just because of the wins, and fewer than Sabathia because of the win total and the fact that NY made the playoffs.

And another rookie umpire fucked a team over by tossing a star player for, in this case, literally no reason at all.

Beltre was rung up on a questionable call. He's at his position, talking smack in Spanish to Hernandez because he and King Felix had a bet going on whether Beltre would take him deep or Felix would strike him out three times. He told the ump he wasn't talking to him, then the a-hole threw him out. Hernandez and Kevin Cash confirm the account. Some minor league asshole inserts himself where he has no business and takes the Red Sox best available hitter out of a game against King Felix. Wonder-fucking full.

These grandstanding umpires forget the three rules of being an umpire:

1. Get the call right

2. It's about the players, not you.

3. IT'S ABOUT THE PLAYERS, NOT YOU!

Jesus H. Christ!! The Phillies are about to get swept at home by the Astros. I don't know maybe this just isn't their year....

Nothing personal, but I'm OK with that ^_^

You'll be even happier to know that now we have to fly out to San Diego to play the team with the best record in the NL. Ugh.

Well, if it makes you feel any better, the Braves were swept in Colorado...only it was just a 3 game series...hey, someone's got to win the East, right???

Just as long as it isn't the Mets! :)

Sucks for the Nats but as one of the posters on the article said,"I feel bad for him, but he did get 15 million for 6 months work." If the owners were smart the next collective bargaining agreement would have a limit on the $ amount a new player can make a la NBA.

Strasburg is going to require tommy john surgery.

For some reason, there was just an air of the inevitable about the whole thing, from signing, to now.

Agree.

Edit: removed NFL as they have no $ limit on guaranteed signing bonuses.

This might weed out some of the "every fifth day" fans we have in Washington. I swear you would think baseball is a solo sport! Sorry for Strasburg, but we had a guy pitch last night, Jordan Zimmermann, who is also very promising. His first MLB start after Tommy John surgery. Sounds like with determination Strasburg will be fine. He'll be put to work trying to earn his millions.

22 year old Hector Rondon, the Indians minor league pitcher of the year in 2009, just had Tommy John surgery. For a team (like the Nats) that is all about the future, kind of tough to see the future dimmed/delayed in this fashion (along with Carlos Santana). Tribe showed a little bit of a pulse after the ASB--started 7-1 against Det and Minn but have been a dreadful 9-21 since then. Magic number (to avoid first 100 lost season since '91) is 12. Can they go at least 12-23 the rest of the way?

Good to get that out of the way now. Better that than the shoulder.

Schilling was just illustrating Strasburg's mechanical problems on ESPN.

He should be fine -- maybe even better than before -- after Tommy John. The mechanics may be another story.

Its true that the elbow is the less dangerous injury. Pryor had the inverted W motion and his shoulder gave out. So there is hope that he'll be OK but only time will tell. If he maintains his stuff and avoids further injury (the latter is a big if), one year to wait isn't much. Its not like it starts his clock toward free agency any sooner. They'll still have six years of service time before that happens.

What's amazing is he was babied in college(which pitchers should be, and rarely are) and babied in the minors(Should have started with the team) and in the majors...so, what if anything can be done to protect young pitchers from TJ???

I always that split finger pitches were at least adding to the number of pitchers having this problem, but he doesn't throw one...Braves lost Kris Medlin to TJ a few weeks ago, no splitter for him either...cutters??? Sliders???

Hey Paps!!! How would you like to have Buster Posey in your lineup???? Did you know that you could have???

Is it poor mechanics? If so, it was an accident waiting to happen.

The Phillies are inventing ways to lose. Bottom of the 9th, 2 outs, 0-2 count Lidge hits the batter to load the bases. Next he balks to let the tying run cross the plate. How the fuck do you get called for a balk with the bases loaded??? And no this wasn't an ump's shitty call. He definitely balked. WTF??? :rmad:
