I saw that very edition for a bargain price and suggested to my hephew that he'd like it. I wish that I had purchased it instead. This recording was my introduction to Duke Ellington. One question: Is the applause present, as the Columbia reissue omits it, even though the performances are identical. jazzbo Posted March 30, 2022 Report Share Posted March 30, 2022 (edited) The applause IS present on this one. I believe that the applause is dubbed in and this one uses the LP master tape. The Columbia cds seem to use a pre-dubbed master tape. No release of this I have heard, LP or cd, sounds less than really good. This one has just a touch more "dimensionality" to it to my ears.
