Hardbopjazz
My choice is bias, since I'm from NYC. But that's my choice. Bop got its start here as well as so many artists.
Hardbopjazz
If a Jazz Hall of Fame doesn't exist. I will start one somehow. I'll write all my local politicians. We spend money on so many other shit in government.
marcoliv
NYC is perfect for that
Eric
It does exist and it is in KC. Our very own Rooster Ties is contemplating going to work for them ... see another thread. Eric
Michael Fitzgerald
Actually, in addition to the KC one, there are a number of jazz halls of fame. Some have permanent homes, some don't. American Jazz Hall of Fame http://www.allaboutjazz.com/php/news.php?id=2592 International Academy of Jazz Hall of Fame (Pittsburgh) http://www.pitt.edu/~pittjazz/academy.html Alabama http://www.jazzhall.com/ Arkansas http://www.arjazz.org/artists/hof/ New England http://www.nejazz.org/HallofFame/History/jazzhall.php (Gigi Gryce is being inducted on April 9, 2004) Oklahoma http://www.okjazz.org/ I'm sure there are others too. JSngry
I'd think that Bogalusa, Louisiana deserves something, just because it's such a cool sounding nameI Bo-ga-LOOSE-ah! Besides, they call themselves "The Magic City"! But it looks like they've gotten wind of my whim, check out their official city website: http://www.bogalusa.org/ They know we're coming! Chuck Nessa
I vote for Oconomowoc, Wisconsin. I just love typing the name.
JSngry
"Oconomowoc"? Sounds like something the Jordanaires sang behind Elvis!
BruceH
I nominate Burlingame, CA.
couw
I would propose Sangar in NE Sibiria (along the Jena river). Not much else going on there, but a good ferry connection with Yakutsk, and since they closed the coal mines some years ago the people need another occupation. They cannot even afford to be drunk all day, let alone get out of the stinking place. Support Sangar.
