My sentiments exactly. Film composers are frequently required to also write (or provide) "source music for exactly a purpose such as this- radio music, phonogrpwh records, jukebox music, etc.
Not sure how often a film production company of that time would want to pay to license an existing record for a few seconds of ambient background music when they're already paying a guy who could come up with something as perfect for the function as this.

I find Ross a very intriguing writer, arranger and player. This one has a great ensemble: Ross on vibes with Immanuel Wilkins on alto saxophone, Maria Grand on tenor saxophone, Marquis Hill on trumpet, Kalia Vandever on trombone, Sean Mason on piano, Rick Rosato on bass & Craig Weinrib on drums.
