  3. While Delmark reissued Forrest's United sides, they also recorded him in 1959 with Grant Green, Harold Mabern, Gene Ramey and Elvin Jones. The results were issued as "All the Gin Is Gone" and "Black Forrest". This was a touring band led by Harry Edison and Bob Koester jumped on the opportunity to record them.

  5. Listening to a Randy Weston trio with Richard Davis and Don Moye recorded at the Jazz Showcase for an NPR broadcast. This was sometime in the late '70s and I was there.

  13. Interesting changes in the band - Hawkins to Webster to Berry, Rex Stewart to Red Allen to Roy Eldridge, etc.
  14. In the mid '70s she was living in Chicago and we both served on the board of the Jazz Institute of Chicago.
  15. Roof line suggests a circa 1960 GM car - possibly a Cadillac DeVille.
