  1. 'Twas the beginning of the end for Dextah in my book. Not a happy thought. It was a marketing triumph.
  2. Goin' to FL to tamper with voting machines?
  3. I wish I had THAT on tape.
  4. While this is probably the best of the Columbia Dexters, I think it pales when compared to the earlier SteepleChases and (especially) the Black Lions. The band was better in person. I think my (minor) problem with this date is - I think they had too much time in the studio and tried to be "perfect". This drags down a bunch of "major label" jazz dates.
  5. They have some dandy new classical titles too.
  6. Y'all better check the new arrivals today. B-)
  7. You can't quit after failing on your first attempt!
  8. Chuck Nessa

    Jelly Roll?

The JSP set omits the two 1939 sessions - 12 tracks total, counting the alternates.
  9. Is this what you were talking about?
  10. Fair enough. What Mr. Russell said.
  11. Is that the "fictional" biography? I've never come across it and haven't been compelled to search it out. Is it worth tracking down, taken for what it is? It's a fascinating "case study". Trouble is I can't decide if the "case" is Marsh or the author.
  12. That's exactly why I asked the question. AND the situation is further clouded by Out Of Nowhere.
  13. Very fine listening ahead. Please provide feedback on the records AND the book.
  14. Yes he played flute frequently in the '70s.
  15. Received notice this shipped today. Muddy Waters -Hoochie Coochie Man: Complete Chess Masters, Volume 2 1952-1958
  16. Boy, I hope to come back (no time now) but MASSIVE SHOES is beyond my ability to comprehend.
  17. Is it the day after Thanksgiving in Spain? These time zone issues confuse me.
  18. DAMN! I got a bunch of work done. Now that's in jeopordy.
  19. Albert Ayler - Spiritual Unity - ESP Ornette Coleman - The Art of the Improvisers - Atlantic (great cross-section of the Atlantics) Jelly Roll Morton - Birth of the Hot - RCA John Coltrane - Coltrane - Impulse Hank Mobley - Soul Station - Blue Note Horace Silver - & the Jazz Messengers - Blue Note Probably a bunch more later. Fantastic idea for a thread.
  20. Geez, I hope they don't put it on the web as a pdf. I can't afford the paper and it would probably kill my HP. Bozy was more than an officer in IAJRC (or "I a jerk" as it's known).
  21. The original idea behind the series was to issue "limited" editions of less popular titles.
  22. Rather than take "even more" advantage of Jim's generosity, I won't do that. Anyone interested in "word file" lists of my offerings should send an email to me at cnessa@earthlink.net. Thanks again Jim.
  23. Hey, I love checks. Not a problem. I have not had a bounced check in over 10 years so I never hold an order up to wait. Guess I'm in trouble now. B-) I signed up for a PayPal merchant account today. It takes a couple of days to verify the bank account info 'til that is a "go". My MC/Visa account is still good 'til the first of the month and maybe a month beyond that. I expect the Diz/Bird to hit the door in the next 10 days, have a new Okka/Brotzmann, the catalogs of Uptown and Okka Disc AND Nessa recordings for sale. Thanks to all Organissimers (?!) for the feedback.
