Thanks Jim. We appreciate your help! Our main problem is we live in an area (Michigan) that doesn't have much of an entertainment or cultural scene. Though there are small fragments of scenes in other towns, Ann Arbor and Detroit are really the only 2 cities that have anything happening. The rest of the state is pretty much a generic wasteland of status quo pop & country music lovers.. Organissimo is based out of Lansing and right now there is no place in that town where we can even get a gig! Here's another problem we have: Though we've been getting good radio airplay around the state, I think a lot people who hear us and would like to buy our Cd don't know where to find it because it's not available in most CD retail outlets and they most likely don't know we have a website because most radio DJs playing our CD don't or can't tell the listeners how to contact us to get the CD We appreciate anybody's feedback or suggestions. We have a special chemistry happening with this band that is rare and definately worthwhile!

Hang in there James! We just have to be patient and keep pushing forward! We should try and get a copy of the Cd to MMW while they are jammin' in our neighborhood. Also, I'm at the Firefly this Saturday with PVH. I'll make sure Susan is aware of our growing popularity in the greater Ann Arbor metropolis..

Help! We need to find an agent or manager who can hook us up! We need international airplay, magazine press, retail Cd distribution, and good gig connections.. We are stuck right now in a holding pattern in Michigan with a fine Cd, a tight performance repertoire, but not much happening..

How far south does the trail go now? I haven't ridden it since the summer of 2001.. I heard it was going to be expanded to Ludington? There are some sections of that trail. I've had some great rides on it! I also like the Pentwater Pathway. It's only about 6 miles long but has some nice mountain biking track... I'd like to come and hang some time... Here's a gig you'll be interested in.. June 29th at Gull Landing, Pentwater, Organissimo will be performing on the deck with my dad, arno Marsh on tenor, and Harvey Thompson on vocals.. It's going to be a swinger!

I biked to the top of Mount Pleasant once. On the way I stopped and said "hi" to Mike Johnston at New Moon. Mike Johnston... I've had some really fun gigs with him and Mike Gill.. I even did some recording with Northwoods about 5 yrs ago... Don't know whatever happened to the tapes. We sure had an interesting chemistry! Do you ever ride the Hart Montague trail?

Wow, sounds like you've had some serious rides! I've been mountain biking since '95 and really love it! We've got some great trails here in Michigan, upper and lower peninsulas... I just bought a Giant full suspension bike (NRS2).. I haven't quite got it dialed in. Did a 20 mile ride with another drummer and guitarist Joe Gloss today and had some trouble with the derailluers and the disc brake in the front is kind of noisy at times. Sweet bike though!

If there's anybody else who shares my joy of mountain biking besides Joe Gloss, let me know.. We have great trails here in Michigan... ~Randissimo~

Does anybody know if Frank Zappa and Ensemble Modern's Yellow shark concert is available on DVD or VHS? I have a poor quality VHS copy that was taped off of German TV and is quickly fading.

Well spoken! The old timers I learned to play from would always tell me to just listen, take your time and tell a story when you solo, and don't try to fill every open space... Many years ago while working with a funky old tenor player I remember struggling a little with the feel on a tune... Sensing this, the tenor player turned around smiling and said, "Just relax and watch the bitche's ass"...

I understand what you're saying... Being a drummer myself, I feel that way about bass players. (HeeHee).... The problem with a lot of younger musicians, (drummers in particular) is that they don't learn how to LISTEN. A lot of these guyz go to clinics, buy drum videos, and drum magazines that feature these macho "Chopzilla" style drummers (with full product endorsements), who approach drumming as a competitive sport. I went to an all day drum event and most of the featured drumkit artists played pointless solos that sounded more like an intense thunderstorm than music! And most of them never talked about the important issues like learning the different genres and styles of Jazz & Pop music, learning how to comp behind solos, learning how to play the song form, and most importantly, learning how to LISTEN and play musically and tastefully, especially when backing a vocalist. I ended up walking out on Virgil Denati's clinic! The guy just kept up this 16th note triplet roar on a double bass drum pedal at 150 beats a minute while thrashing away at cymbals, snare, and toms.. There was no discernable composition in his demonstration. I wanted to take the mic and say, "There you go folks, this is an example of what the average bandleader does NOT want to hear on a gig!"

I wonder if any of the suits from BNBB have been sniffing around over here to see what's up? They must have heard about "organissimo forum" by now..

We'd love to come out there and play! Can you hook us up? ...Maybe some Jazz education clinics, workshops, a concert, maybe a lounge or tavern that features eclectic music....

I saw that band in Muskegon Mi in 1988 .. Last Zappa concert I attended. There's a great band out there called, "Project Object" The band often features ex Zappa guyz like Ike Willis, Scott Thunis, napoleon Murphy Brock as well as other well known Zappa allumni.. If they play in a venue near you go and check them out! They are BAD! :rsmile: B)

Right on Chris! Some of the most inspiring moments for me were sitting in the audience of a Zappa concert or listening to his recordings. He has been a tremendous influence and I still believe him to be one of the great geniuses of the 20th century...
