Now listening to this for the first time. He takes some of those tunes at a very fast tempo. Thought his "cocaine fuelled" performances were in his final years, but this is from 1969.
The Mullenium album, which I originally knew as Gerry Mulligan: The Arranger, includes two great pieces by the 1946-47 Gene Krupa Orchestra, "Elevation" and "Disc Jockey Jump", both composed and arranged by Jeru. Longtime favourites of mine.
Being over 80 does have certain advantages. Just had a phone call from my doctor offering a Covid vaccination tomorrow morning (agewise only over 80s qualify here at the moment). After second jab on Jan 11 will be ready again for gigs (performed by geriatric musicians of course.)
