I haven't noticed Bill Evans rushing, though I do find this off putting when it happens, as on Zoot Sims, Down Home with Danny Richmond and Chet Baker and Crew with Peter Littman.

I always thought I met my wife at her sister's 21st birthday party in January 1969, but she says we met briefly prior to that at an Oscar Peterson concert. That should get me a black mark here! P.S. The venue, of course, was the Free Trade Hall. Where else?

Now was it? When I had a hard copy I seem to remember mention in the liner notes of a French connection.

When I met my wife in 1969 she already had a little record collection that included Jimmy Smith, Ray Charles, Getz/Gilberto and Charlie Byrd. A few years ago I went with my late friend and forum member JohnS to a Gary Smulyan gig that he'd arranged. When I got back to his house I played his wife a couple of clips of the master I'd recorded on my phone. "What a horrible noise!" she exclaimed. I was astonished!

In my experience people who aren't particularly interested in music, as we are, no longer have the ability to play CDs, let alone vinyl albums.
