Track 1: "Grooveyard" by Carl Perkins, but of course not played by Perkins here. Track 9: A Sam Jones composition, "Says You".
  3. Ah yes, this is where I've heard it:
  4. Thanks!
  5. Re track 4, Ray Brown trio, "SOS". I had never heard this track, but the composition was very familiar to me, though I couldn't remember the title. So who composed it and who else has recorded it? Or does it have an alternative title?
  6. 👍 I always remember this one as being among the first bunch of Blue Notes to be released in the UK at the relatively late date of 1962 IIRC. Nice album, by the way!
  7. This is one I've never seen before, so I presume it's just come to light. My favourite Adderley band! I saw all he players on this one, but not together. By the time I saw the Adderley band in 1965, Feldman had been replaced by Zawinul, but I had seen Victor in 1959 on a triumphant Christmas return to Ronnie Scott's, just after he joined Cannonball, as Simon Spillett told me. Now playing. Cannon in blistering form and I haven't before heard Victor on vibes, as well as piano, in an Adderley group.
  8. I saw this happen in the Free Trade Hall, Manchester when I saw the Monk quartet in April 1961. Having settled Rouse into his solo, Monk went for a walk (didn't dance) around the stage and lit up a cigarette. As Rouse approached the end of his last chorus, Monk strode quickly back to the piano, pausing only to lean from the stage and pass the cigarette to an astonished young fan on the front row. The youngster was seen to carefully extinguish the cigarette and place it in his wallet! 😆
