  5. I've just had a look at the contents of this box (which I don't own). A great collection! I've been an enthusiast for this music since my teenage years (which doesn't quite take me back to when it was recorded) and even play a little blues piano myself. Favorite blues pianist: Yancey. Favorite boogie pianist: Meade Lux.

  8. Reminds me that Mingus said classical music was about the world as it should be, but jazz was about the world as it was.
  9. "Perfect" or "perfection" suggest a single ideal to be attained. Perhaps this concept fits better with classical music. Jazz, with its important improvised element, is more personalized with a variety of top level attainments. Many Charlie Parker solos are at this level, but every one is different.
