Very sad news. He made some great recordings.

Old news: as was posted in this Fantasy thread last year, the European distributor lost their licence.

I was complaining about their overseas shipping rates, not their pricing.
-
If the order hasn't shipped yet, you can cancel it on the CDU website and re-order the items through this board.
-
Because OOP Mosaic sets are collector's items.

Maybe they'll still remember you... -
I doubt it. The only Euro-versions we got were those owned by Universal.

I thought the Germans played very well in the second half overall, especially the way they finished their chances. Ballack's header was placed perfectly; Klose finished strongly on his gift; and Nouville's volley was beautiful... of course, the weak defending helped, but those goals still required significant skill. Sorry, I strongly disagree, in my view the Germans were only able to play "very well" thanks to the very poor opposition from the American team; the American defense was appalling, and yet the Germans only managed to play "well" in the second half. I thought both teams put on an appalling display.
-
Short review: the Germans, who again played very badly, had a field day against an American B-team with a horrible defense. I don't see these teams going very far this summer if they keep playing like this. Awful.

Why don't you ask Alan Lankin, he seems to have links to Amazon and/or CDUniverse on his website.
-
If they have a similar program I'd prefer CDUniverse, as their prices are way below Amazon's.
-
I always choose surface mail, which is usually as fast as airmail. $7 surface for 1 CD is also ridiculous in my opinion, I'm usually charged that amount for airmail...
-
I didn't know that, didn't check the discographical info. Yuck, I don't like his mastering...
-
The board is still slow on and off, and it's often timing out...
-
I really would like to place an order, but $12 airmail shipping for 1 CD is a bit rich for my blood...
-
I agree - Jim, why don't you pin this thread and expand the title?
-
Anonymous donations are welcome too, I hope
-
Yep, old news indeed - see this thread.
-
I'm not, sold most of my mini-LP CDs a couple of months ago
-
The board is excruciatingly slow today - well, it has been slow for the last few days, but today it's even worse. It also keeps timing out when I click on a member's name to view their profile...

An excellent CD with 18 of Nat King Cole's 1943-1947 and 1949 piano trio sides is The Best of the Nat King Cole Trio: The Instrumental Classics, Capitol 98288. The CD was released in 1992; the transfers were done by Jay Ranellucci and Malcolm Addey. Highly recommended!

I don't have the Mosaic set, but doesn't it contain mostly jazz-oriented trio dates? What kind of "filler/novelty-type stuff" does it have, non-trio sides, or? We just switched to a new iMac (and a broadband connection! ), so I can't pull up my database right now, but that set contains a ton of (forgettable) novelty compositions that have probably never been done by anyone since. Cute little numbers that were hip in the 40's, like what Slim Gaillard and people like that were doing. So yes, great trio, great musicians, I'm just lamenting the amount of less-than-great material they recorded. As I say, it's well-executed and fine in small doses, but I wouldn't have wanted to pay $15/$16 per disc for it, and certainly not $19/$20 like this BF set. Come to think of it, I think the song titles are listed in one of those "Mosaic discography" threads, if you want to see what I mean. And again, I really do love Nat (and Oscar Moore!). It's hard not to like a lot of the material based on who's performing it. There's just SO much of it in that set... Thanks for the explanation.
