    Elvin is dead

Another great jazz musician gone. Very sad news.
  3. Eagle Records will release a John Lee Hooker CD with some of his earliest recordings on May 18. It's on sale from CDUniverse for $12.59 at the moment.
  4. Happy birthday and many happy returns!
  5. And what about your birthdays here?

hat's Werner Uehlinger e-mailed me a couple of days ago that my replacement copy will be mailed soon, so apparently the new pressing is available - at least from their European distributors.
  8. The Japanese Bill Evans 3CD-set The Complete Live at the Village Vanguard 1961 (Victor Japan VICJ-60951) is a 20-bit Digital K2 remastered set, not an XRCD box.
  9. I had the Japanese EastWind LP way back in my vinyl days, and that's too long ago for me to be able to give it a or now; I do remember liking it, though.
  10. That one is a relatively inexpensive Japanese reissue (¥1,500 / €12 / $14 plus shipping) and can probably be easily obtained from Hiroshi Tanno. By the way, Hiroshi not only takes PayPal, but also cash (¥ / € / $) and money orders.
  11. A few Mosaic sets might do the job - you don't want 'em anyway...
  12. That about sums it up: in his own words. What a shame he's allowed to pollute this board with this crap. what an even bigger shame that people seem to enjoy it Pretty sad.

  14. Ahhh, less air. Unless one can prove, that one actually notices differences (blind A/B test), I don't buy into these "less air" stories. I did hear differences on high-end systems.
  15. She made dubs of copy-protected discs? Without any problem? How do they sound - no clicks, distortion or whatever?
  16. And usually cheaper than other sources.
  17. Talking about superior mastering: Malcolm Addey remastered several Mosaics, and the ones I've heard sound absolutely wonderful, at least to my ears.
  18. What's going on??? I'm having problems NOW...
  19. This link works perfectly for me.
  20. No problems with CDUniverse at this end.
  21. You're absolutely right, and I'm sorry I posted the thread about Elvin's unconfirmed passing. I have deleted it. I usually wait until news like that is confirmed, but I thought the source mentioned in the first post of this thread was reliable. My mistake, and I apologize.
