  1. Certainly not my Keepnews!
  2. According to AMG, this set doesn't have all the tracks either.
  3. You know, there's a city called Parma, very good cheese called Parmiggiano, a painter called Parmigianino, and then there's prosciutto di parma... ain't that already more than we deserve? ubu What about Parmalat?? I don't think the City of Parma is still very proud of that corporation...
  4. For those interested, Toshiba reissued Sal Salvador's Bethlehem albums on CD in Japan a few years ago. Last time I looked they were still available.

I'm especially interested in the Gratkowski, it certainly "looks" good, hopefully it will sound OK too.
  6. Oh yes! Those guys are amazing. Was the Red Norvo trio with Mingus ever released on CD? Yes, in truncated form, on one Savoy CD; they cut a few tracks that were on the Savoy 2LP-set.
  7. In Europe tomorrow's already here
  8. Happy birthday!
  9. ...and many happy returns!

My favorite versions of Mahler 1 are: - Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra Amsterdam / Bernard Haitink - Philips; 1972 recording - Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra / Bernard Haitink - Philips; 1987 recording - Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra / Claudio Abbado - DG; 1989 recording - Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra Amsterdam / Riccardo Chailly - Decca; 1995 recording.

Gokhan, I don't think Д.Д. would mind if you'd refer to him as "D.D." (Д.Д. is Cyrillic for D.D.) B)

You're absolutely right, Gokhan. Welcome to the board, by the way!
  19. I wonder how many jazz lovers would buy limited-edition (facsimile or otherwise) CDs just for their value.
  20. I'm interested in some NO jazz, or rather the émigré Chicago variant (Armstrong's Hot Five and Hot Seven recordings, Jelly Roll Morton's Red Hot Peppers recordings, King Oliver w/Armstrong), but, like I said, these Atlantic sides are really not my cup of tea...
  21. Okay. This does it for me. I'll have to purchase the JJ Johnson box in my next Mosaic order. Nope, no choice. I have to do it. B) The J.J. Johnson is one of my favorite Mosaics. It's an absolute must-have. According to Mosaic's Scott there were about 170 J.J.J. sets left last week; it will remain available for quite some time, i.e. well into 2005, and they'd order additional sets if necessary.
  22. 1. Atlantic New Orleans Jazz 2. Tristano/Konitz/Marsh 3. Morgan/Shorter Vee Jay 4. Chambers/Kelly Vee Jay The Atlantic NO set is not my cup of tea, but the others are terrific.
  23. The Benedetti/Charlie Parker box will never expire. Is this correct? I checked the Mosaic discography but, unless I missed it, could find no release date on the Benedetti box. You asked what the current Mosaic CD box with the oldest release date was - well, that's the Benedetti/Parker set. It was released before the Condon set, which is the oldest still available limited-edition Mosaic set. Mosaic sets are released "chronologically", i.e. set 129 (Benedetti) came before set 152 (Condon). The oldest still available limited-edition CD-set is indeed set 169 (J.J. Johnson).
